Re: Android/ Satellite receiver combo

OK I ordered a Freesat GTC Android 6.0 4K TV BOX DVB-S2/T2/Cable/ISDBT 2+16G Satellite Receiver from ebay.es for just under €65 . It turned up inside 2 days and I got to play with it as my friend is not very good at sorting out electronic equipment. First it wanted to do some updates to firmware etc...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

Re: Android/ Satellite receiver combo

Yes but he wants to buy an android box anyway and the Sky box is 10 years old so time to update he thinks. Seems to make sense to have both in one box. I have seen some on the internet but not sure how good they are.

Android/ Satellite receiver combo

Has anyone got one of these. We can receive the UK channels with no problem using a 1.9mtr dish but my mate is buying a new TV and his old Sky box only has a scart connection and modern TVs are all hdmi so he needs a new box. He also wants to get an android box so he can apps like TVtap and Showbox ...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

I don't profess to be an expert but I assume you have run a speed check when it is buffering. You seldom get the download speed they promise. Then I believe bandwidth comes into it as well and if the provider has too many subscribers, then at peak times it causes problems. It's easy to check downloa...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

Good point. I haven't really tested it as I have so many other ways of watching live tv. However my friend installed it an watched the golf on sky sports for over an hour with no issues. I honestly believe your internet connection makes a huge difference. I would say it costs nothing to try it. It's...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

There is an app TapTV which seems to give numerous channels including UK and no vpn necessary. I have tested it on an android box and works fine.

Re: Samsung J2 Prime smartphone from India bought in Spain

Yes Elusive, you notice nothing different but it just frees up space on the phone. However, in my case apps like Messenger seem to jump back to the phone after a while.

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

Believe it or not I just recently signed up for the new Movistar fusion package which came with their cable tv. The reason I did it was because I was already with Movistar and paying more that this new package which gave 2gB and 200 mins National calls on a mobile and 100mb download on fibre optic (...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

Sorry Sid, I had no idea, I thought all of Andalucia would get UK channels with a 1.9mtr dish. I didn't realise you could receive UK channels any other way without some sort of decoding device and I think the dish points west instead of east. I know some friends had it at one time but stopped using ...

Re: Problem Movistar line

Seems the way things are going these days. If they have a Facebook or Twitter account most companies are quick to respond. I'm not great at using twitter and seldom do but I contacted a bank once and got immediate response.

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

I have a 1.9mtr dish and a Gigablue quad plus box with a terabyte hard disk so can watch / record all UK freesat programmes BBC1 ITV etc. However, I use my android box for box sets and films using the showbox app and there is an app TVTAP which streams UK and other country TV channels free. I also u...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

I have bought 3 of these for myself and for friends and so far no problems. Maybe I've been lucky but at under €30 with free delivery from Madrid and turning up in 2 days it's worth a gamble. They're called TX3PRO and I got them on Ebay.es . Then load them with whatever apps you want. I use Showbox ...

Re: Problem Movistar line

Another much easier way is to message them on Facebook or via Messenger. If you type in English they answer in English. Never a problem for me and they answer pretty quickly. They will need your details - this is what they sent me when I messaged them "May you please send us your data through privat...

Re: Passporting - what does it all mean re annuities

Just an update - I've had a letter from one of the annuity providers, Scottish Widows, who seem bemused by the question I put to them. Their response was "Please note that we currently pay annuity payments throughout the world, and do not envisage any changes in offering this facility going forward"...

Re: Passporting - what does it all mean re annuities

I've got a UK bank account which everything except the state pension is paid into, but no UK address now. To be honest I'm not really that bothered as I'm sure it'll be resolved before March but what does annoy me is that none of the companies or even the ABI can say anything definite regarding the ...

Re: Passporting - what does it all mean re annuities

Basically Sid that's what I was trying to get them to say but they seem reluctant to even confirm that. I don't know if they are trying to say that as I am a Spanish resident that means the payment is going to a non UK resident and so somehow different. I'm still waiting for an email response. If I ...

Passporting - what does it all mean re annuities

I've been having a battle with 2 providers, Aviva and LV as I have annuities with both of them which provides me with a monthly income here in Spain. Both of these started paying out into my UK bank account before I became a Spanish resident. The ABI (Association of British Insurers) have been warni...
