Re: Android box connecting to "Hotel" wifi

It's more to do with getting BBC etc. Changing the language, now the signals are digital, is fairly easy for sure. Normally it wouldn't matter if it was only for a couple of weeks but they're staying at a holiday complex for 5 months. A very good deal actually on a 3 bed apartment in a sea front apa...

Re: Android box connecting to "Hotel" wifi

Thank you. Yes the laptop works fine, I don't think he's tried the phone yet. I suppose he could install the vpn on the laptop and then iPlayer etc would work. It's not a Smart tv so he's need an Hdmi cable but a bit messy. I have an idea that maybe because, at the moment, he has only paid for one c...

Re: Android box connecting to "Hotel" wifi

Well, he's tried it but no success. None of the apps work and even though it shows connected, it's obviously not getting an internet connection. Here is what the connection shows :- https://www.dropbox.com/s/xr7dcspgckfwvn8/hotelwifi.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/xr7dcspgckfwvn8/hotelwifi.jpg?d...

Android box connecting to "Hotel" wifi

A friend has rented an apartment for 5 months in a managed apartment block. You rent from the management company and can have wifi if you pay extra. It appears to be controlled by logging in on a web page and if you want more than one connection you obviously pay extra. However, he would like to hav...

Re: itv Hub - Won't update or open

I did have a problem at one time and this may not help your situation, but I downloaded the ITV Hub apk file from here and then installed it from a memory stick http://www.uktvapps.com/get-bbc-media-p ... outside-uk . It may still ask you to update though.

Re: Spanish TV changing because of 5G??

There's 31 apartments so that's the total cost to the community to come out of community funds. I dont know if individual houses with standard aerials are affected.

Re: Spanish TV changing because of 5G??

Many thanks. I was told it had to be done before the end of this year as the channels are disappearing soon.
I wanted to wait til January when we would have more funds.

Spanish TV changing because of 5G??

I've just been told by our administrator that our communal Spanish TV system will lose channels unless we pay €350 to modify existing equipment. The other option is to have new equipment installed at €460 but we can get a grant from the Government if we go that route. Apparently it's all to do with ...

Re: Is there a simple answer for uk tv?

If you can't have a large dish then it's internet tv in some form or another, unless you have a special receiver as someone pointed out and a smaller dish pointing in a different direction. I've tried various ways of getting UK TV and if it's only BBC / ITV / C4 and C5 etc then I have found the most...

Petrolracer, so true! My wife has just come back from a visit, the first in 6 years and found exactly the same. Still prefer it here.

Re: IPTV disappearing

White Horse - I don't think there's any cracking codes involved. It's simply streaming which is fairly simple to do I believe. It can be done on YouTube for example. There was a time not so long ago when they had a program to crack the code of Sky transmissions and so you still used your dish, but h...

Re: IPTV disappearing

Markwilding - that is interesting re Sky. My Granddaughter in UK has just taken out a Sky contract but I don't know exactly what she has or indeed how it works. I know some people over here used to use a multi room subscription which was quite cheap and as I have a dish I suppose that would be an op...

Re: IPTV disappearing

Yes, of course they're all illegal. Let's face it, you're getting all the Sky Sports, BT Sports etc etc for a fraction of the real price so we know they'll be trying to close them down. For some here it's the way they watch the Freeview channels as well although there are other ways using vpn or sma...

IPTV disappearing

Looks like some of us have lost our IPTV here in Spain as a result of the raids in various countries. I'm sure it'll soon resurface.

Re: Paypal Account

I've actually got both which is handy as I can decide which bank account it comes out of, depending whether I've used amazon.es or a UK site. I don't think Paypal is the best way to do currency transfer but if you're happy with it , why not. I use Transferwise and I know others use Revolut etc. Here...

Re: Confusion about NIE/Residency

The year 2014 is certainly significant. I know of two of our friends who had to prove they were non resident for that tax year. Luckily both had been doing non resident tax returns although had signed on the padron (very easy to do here) as advised by their gestors. This could have caused the proble...

Re: Can they tax you after death?

Mine was the opposite. The tax advisor, who was English, assured me that ALL annuities qualified for the reduced rate of tax i.e. only a percentage taxed depending on when you started to receive payments. It was only when she left, 2 years later to go back to England, and someone took over that the ...

Re: Can they tax you after death?

Yes we know of a few here in Almeria. They had to prove they were not resident. Unfortunately due to bad advice 're annuities I had to pay tax and interest for 3 years that were wrong. I've been fined as well but so far they haven't sent the payment slip but I doubt they've had a change of heart. I ...

Re: Can they tax you after death?

The worry is though that they could keep doing it for every other year as well. They seem to be concentrating on old tax returns especially from UK citizens. I've had my return from 2014 queries and they quoted the figures supplied by HMRC which were on my P60 so they are definitely liaising with th...
