Re: Best VPN for BBC Sounds downloads & iPlayer

Oh Dear, seeing this I tried my Smarty and on the VPN on London I can't get BBC iPlayer. When I try Smart DNS I get a message something has gone wrong. I only recently purchased Smarty because Freedome had stopped working (actually they say it's working fine as a VPN, but they never said they'd allo...

Re: COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOL RULES PHASE 2

Yes, we've been told by our Administrators that the rules have been relaxed. No booking system and basically controlled by users. Sanitising / cleaning only once in the morning, gel available for users, towels etc to lay on so don't lay on grass / tiles, no ball games etc, 1.5 metres distancing and ...

Freesat Transponder on Humax problem

I just made a huge mistake. I have a Humax box FoxSat HDR which has been working absolutely fine. When we have different people stay in the apartment I have tuned it to their region by entering their postcode. Never a problem until now. I just tried to do the same thing as I've done before and it's ...

Re: Low income allowance calculation help

Sorry Sid , his income for 2019 is €15,500 and is a private pension plus state pension.
The £12,000 was a few years ago.

Low income allowance calculation help

I hope Sid will see this as I'm sure he understands how it works. I have a friend who has finally gone to someone to sort out his tax as he had been told previously by a Gestor that he needn't do a return etc as his income was low. I knew this was wrong as he has been resident for about 4 years and ...

Re: COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOL RULES PHASE 2

We have a small community of 31 apartments and the pool doesn't get used that much but these rules are going to make it very difficult. This is what our administrator sent me as President. Dear President and committee members, as informed last week, the Health Ministry and the Junta had published ce...

When are vets permitted to open for vaccinations

I'm confused as what the Spanish Government has decreed regarding Vets opening. Our vet in Garrucha says they can't give a date for vaccinations or blood tests, both of which are overdue for out little dog, yet the Vet in Turre (about 6 km away) is quite happily carrying out these routine appointmen...

I was told they're not taking any car tax until the lockdown is over. Normally it is taken by direct debit in mid April here.

Worms in pool - how???

I didn't know whether to put this in gardening or here lol. After the heavy rain there were at least 100 (probably more) lying in the middle of the pool. None anywhere else and I have no overhanging trees or hedges or any soil nearby, all tiles. It's not a big pool and we're not out in the country a...

Re: UK State Pension

Very surprised but it still my preferred option. The timing in your case was unfortunate, probably when the rate was at its lowest.
A huge difference though but look on the bright side , you'll pay less tax on income next year. Lol

exchange rate to use for income on 2019 tax return

I have seen on a website that the average rate for the year to 31.12.2019 to use on your tax return is €1.1390

I have looked under faqs and there's nothing in there yet - can anyone confirm that I am using the right rate.

Many thanks

No problem with Unicaja once we went in and gave the mobile number. I can log in as normal now and don't receive a text or anything to just look at the account.

Communal Wifi in apartment block

We have a building with 31 apartments and communal wifi has been mentioned. Has anyone any experience of this?

It looks like we might have fibre optic soon via Plusnet.es but top download speed of 100mps . I have thought about repeaters but not sure if there is some other way.

Re: the new government

I think the reason you'll not see much on here is because we don't think it'll impact very much on most of us. There's not a huge difference in the tax situation between UK and Spain. People get confused because for example the personal allowance in Spain for a pensioner is only €6,700 whereas in UK...

Re: 2015 resident tax error - allowances calculation?

Many thanks Sid, probably the best thing to do. He's already paid someone to send of a letter and they haven't spotted anything but I'm going to take another look myself before I go with him to the tax office. My Spanish isn't brilliant but i think it's good enough if I spot something obvious.

2015 resident tax error - allowances calculation?

Like many people here in Andalucia or possibly Spain, my friend has received a letter from the Spanish tax office, and it was the same accountant who did his return that had messed mine up re annuities. He is receiving a demand for over €2,000 which is a bit of a shock and he's been to another pract...

Re: BEST WAY TO SEND MONEY TO SPAIN FROM THE UK

It's a question of trust, but an easy way (and I've done it for a friend) is to find someone you trust, who uses Transferwise, and get them to transfer (by going into a bank branch) £1,000 into the friend's account. Then if the friend has your iban number for the Spanish bank, they can use Transferw...
