S1 for disability - prescriptions ?

I know you can get an S1 if you have a transportable benefit like PIP but what I don't know is whether this allows you to have discounted prescriptions. I have a friend who has this benefit and has just moved here but has a lot of medication so it will make a big difference if she only has to pay 10...

Re: Transferwise Borderless account

Oops - Wicksey . Just checked and I was wrong, you do need a Euro account if you want to send Euros so as that is what you will be doing the sterling account (balance) will be for receiving, and the Euro account (balance) will be for sending euros. Looks like you can only send sterling from the ster...

Re: Transferwise Borderless account

Yes, you need a Euro account (although I suppose you could manage fine without it). It is just like the UK sterling account (not a true account as such), it'll give you a Iban starting with DE but that would only concern you if you had money coming in in Euros which is not the case. You get the euro...

Re: Money transfer company

Brimsham, of course, but it was about transfers from companies that seemed to be an issue. I did ask Revolut and pointed out that an up to date comparison site was stating that they didn't do it. I suggested they contact them. I have had no reply to a message or a tweet asking the question " Could m...

Re: Money transfer company

Paddy if what you say is correct then Revolut would definitely edge Transferwise although for me it would be too much hassle to change as I know my way around their system. However, the icompare link states that you cannot directly transfer from a UK bank to a Revolut account unlike Transferwise whi...

Re: Money transfer company

Wicksey, that was our thinking as well. Not even sure if it's worth having the debit card as we're more likely to use the Spanish a/c but we'll see how it goes. So far so good and my wife is getting the hang of it. I want her to be able to use the technology as she intends to leave it all to me now....

Re: Money transfer company

I have no doubt you're right Paddy but having gone the Transferwise route some time ago it seemed logical to use their borderless account. It appears that Revolut is very similar and no fees up to £5,000 per month whereas Transferwise do charge BUT as far as I can see Revolut doesn't have a virtual ...

Re: Money transfer company

That is true regarding your right to a UK bank account but many banks will try and fob you off and I believe you will not be eligible if you have an existing UK a/c e.g. with Nationwide. That is what we found when we tried to open an additional account which is why we went the Transferwise borderles...

Re: Transferwise Borderless account

Gasman, with an online account do you get a debit card? The reason I ask is everything we do is online with our Spanish bank but we still pay an annual fee for a debit card. There are ways round any bank charges with most Spanish banks e.g. a savings account, or take out insurances with the bank (no...

Re: Transferwise Borderless account

At the time that was how they were set up. With state pension there is no problem and that's how we do it. However the others were going to use 3rd party to transfer to a Spanish bank and told us commission and charges would be high. The better option seemed to be to retain UK bank and transfer when...

Transferwise Borderless account

My wife and I always had 2 joint UK bank accounts ( we could each access both accounts but liked the idea of separate accounts) but the Norwich & Peterborough closed all current accounts as they had been taken over by Yorkshire B/S which was the one my wife was using. We then discovered that it is a...

Enrique I'm rapidly coming to that conclusion. Then I'll change the directory that videos, documents etc to point to the other local directory. I try to avoid Microsoft a/c . Can't be bothered with passwords lol

Changing user name in folder - new laptop

Well, I'm stumped. Bought a new laptop, Spanish for the first time. No problem changing the language to English or the local user name from Uuario to the name I wanted. I had to do a reboot for the language to change in the system but so far so good. However, even though I had changed the user name ...

Re: Satellite dish alignment BBC or C5

You are right, all ITV2 3 4 are no signal but also BBC1 London is breaking up which seems strange. So is it the skew that makes the difference with regard to horizontal and vertical frequencies?

Satellite dish alignment BBC or C5

We live in Almeria and I get all UK channels no problem with a 1.9mtr dish and a satellite receiver. I have a cheap one from Ebay as a backup to my Gigablue. My friend had a problem with his old Sky box when he bought a new TV (no scart socket) so I took my cheap box around as it was working fine on...

Showbox not working

Does anyone else use Showbox - it was working fine yesterday but today - nothing.

It's really good for box sets and movies in HD but it looks like their server is down, I hope not permanently.

I don't know any other app as good .
