Re: Made in China

Costakid it may just be the much bigger stores, but I was surprised at the time, but have bought numerous items not made in China, so it's worth checking. Glassware particularly seems to be French.

Re: Made in China

Not everything in the Chinese bazaars are made in China. I've bought a number of glass dishes and cookware that were made in France, and plastic storage containers were made in Spain. As already said, there are different levels of quality of Chinese goods, as they make products for big names like Bo...

Re: Made in China

As Gerry points out, just about everything is made in China or the parts thereof are made there, even if it is assembled elsewhere. The latest thing I bought was a Rowenta vacuum cleaner and was made in China. It would be great if countries like Britain could once again become major manufacturers of...

Re: Coronavirus

If masks are to be compulsory then they should be sure that everyone knows how to handle and wear them properly. The number of times I see people on the TV with them stuck under their chin when they don't have them covering their nose and mouth, or even people with them on over their mouth but with ...

Re: Coronavirus

Under the previous rules, only one person could go shopping. Now we are allowed to share a car, can two people shop together? Is the one shopper a government rule or a shop rule? Sid I can't found anything on that Sid. I guess it made sense not to double up on the numbers going into the shop by onl...

Re: Easyjet

I don't know why it's so difficult. Surely it must be automated in some way? My Airbnb refund was made within minutes of me cancelling, and they've got millions of customers like the airlines. I think Easyjet are cancelling 2 weeks before the flight. That's the time they cancelled one of them, and t...

Re: Coronavirus

I was saying to my OH last night on our walk, how strange this has all been. Could you have ever imagined 6 months ago that everything would be shut down like this, practically the whole world put into lockdown? It's funny how accepting we've all been, I suppose there's not much you could have done,...

Re: CAR ITV - Whats going on??

My garage man takes my car for me and he said that although the website is now up and running again for Algarrobo it won't actually come online for appointments until Monday 18th. My first ITV was due at the end of April so I guess I shall just have to see when the first date can be arranged. Not mu...

Re: Ryanair.

My Ryanair flight was cancelled on 27/4 and I completed the form for a refund. On 11/5 I received another email offering a voucher or to change my flight. It said: Customers who choose not to accept a free move or voucher will receive their refund in due course, once this crisis has passed. Over the...

Re: Coronavirus

Our local English shop Russell's has been doing a roaring trade during lockdown. They've got a huge choice now and also stock Co-op goods. They do a wonderful fresh ground Co op Kenyan coffee and we've been buying all sorts of other things we don't usually from there. About once a year I've gone to ...

Re: Coronavirus

"Only if they are no relation to you. ie: a husband and wife is not allowed, but you could drive your work colleagues uk car". I bet that rule wherever it is is open to interpretation. e.g. Married , not married, wife UK resident, husband Spanish resident. What about the partner of a nephew, girlfr...

Re: Earthquake last night

Interesting article Sid. That's when the king came to Torrox and Nerja and famously stood on the Balcon De Europa which now has his statue on it. The damage was more widespread than I realised.

Re: Earthquake last night

Yes that's how it felt for me Free at Last. I didn't notice any more, although I lay awake for quite a while when I went to bed half expecting the 'Big One' to happen ...... although this is not San Francisco, but I'm ever the optimist .... not!!

Earthquake last night

Anyone else notice it about 11pm last night? I'd seen that in the past couple of weeks there'd been ones elsewhere in Spain and wondered if we'd get anything here as it seems that the plates are shifting. Just a small jolt but like thump in the back as I sat on the sofa and everything in the cabinet...

Hoping to fly to the Canaries at the end of the year. Being an internal flight I am slightly more hopeful of it going.

Re: Coronavirus

Up here in the campo you wouldn't know it had been lockdown for the past 2 months as life here as continued much as normal. Although people were allowed to come up to attend to animals and land (providing they had a proper area of trees or a greenhouse that needed working), people have been gatherin...

Re: Coronavirus

  confusion reigns .... and I guess it will only get worse. I read this morning about proposed changes to the exercise hours, meaning that the later hours will get even later .... 9pm-12am. I think that's one rule I think I can bend up here in the hills where we never meet another walker, ...

Re: Coronavirus

I see our favourite Indian (Madras House) on Torrox Costa is now open for takeaway! Does the takeaway have to be pre-ordered then collected or can you go and order it and collect? Cheers Gerry I imagine you'd need to pre-order it but you could phone them 952124158 (if it's still the same number sin...

Re: Coronavirus

In the old days we always had a walk on the paseo before going shopping, but as you say this is now confusing as we would be further than 1km from our home, but on essential food-buying business. I think we'll have to wait for the full details to come out. 'Exercise' time may be different to going t...
