Re: Coronavirus

I know of a number of people with trips or cruises organised in the next couple of months to Italy and other parts of Europe who are cancelling. Problem is, unless advised officially by the FCO not to travel to a certain country, then the insurance won't be paying out. These people are elderly, some...

Re: Tax on second hand cars

We didn't have such a good experience buying from a second hand dealer here, but we've bought 2 ex hire cars direct from the hirecar company in past years which we've been really pleased with. We wanted to know the history of the car and have a guarantee, and the price was good too. It's a way of ge...

Re: Electricity issues

I've always had 4.4kw here. True I don't have an electric kettle as we have one to put on the gas cooker, but we have 1.5kw water heater, aircon units, a 2kw fan heater in the bathroom, microwave, dishwasher etc etc and it's never tripped out from overloading. Our standing charge is 14.35€ + IVA pm....

Re: Buying a property .... but the boarder of two municipalities (Algarrobo/Arenas) cuts through the plot!....... Help!!

Wow that's a huge house. Ours is less than a third of the size of that and accordingly barely worth 200K even though it is close to the pueblo and has lovely sea views. 5 bed properties in Torrox campo would probably be more than 375K. If you want to be in the area and have a large (legal) property ...

Re: Buying a property .... but the boarder of two municipalities (Algarrobo/Arenas) cuts through the plot!....... Help!!

Sounds risky as you're not sure exactly what future difficulties you may be taking on. I think I'd want more than a 20k discount! We unknowingly bought unsegregated land and had a house built illegally 25 years ago before the days of all the info there is now on the internet and in forums. It took u...

Is the later extension the 15m2 not on the deeds? Is it in the Campo as I didn't think they gave permission to build extensions. That would be another thing that needs to be sorted. The owners are responsible for doing a dafo and if they cannot get one then that would further confirm that there are ...

Re: Rental deposit return

Landlords in Spain always try to keep the deposits usually spent it and dont want to return. That applies to the UK also. There are government backed tenancy deposit schemes in the UK where the landlord must register the deposit by law. They will negotiate between the two parties if there is any di...

Re: Tax on second hand cars

I have bought second hand cars from dealers here and there is only one price to pay. That includes the transfer and any taxes. We've never had to pay on top of the agreed price for anything.

Customer service

There have been numurous postings over the years about customer service here, or the lack of it. I think things have improved but Energiaxxi, formerly Endesa, still have a lot to learn. Our power went off about 9.30pm on Thursday and still wasn't on the next morning. So began the saga of firstly eve...

Zafra?

When we drove to Extremadura we stopped for lunch at Casa Lopez in Las Pajanosas just north of Seville. I can remember having very garlicky boar in red wine as part of a menu del dia!

Re: ITV questions

Our new car has stop/start but we wouldn't have bought it unless we could switch it off. As you say, it's just remembering to do it each time. A friend had it on his automatic VW Golf and his new battery was 300€, the car stopped all the time even when he'd just stopped for a second at a roundabout....

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

It all depends on the individual members of staff in any bank but Sabadell has a good reputation amongst foreigners in my area although, personally, I am with Unicaja. As a resident paying in a minimum of 700€ pm we were originally getting all banking free with the Sabadell Expansion account. Now t...

Re: First Post, hello to everyone, got a few questions on our move

From a quick Google i found an article that mentions the "S1 (former E106)". We obtained E106s 20 years ago when we first moved here in our 40s and it gave us 2 years health cover here as we met the criteria of working for so long and paying so much etc into the UK system. It seems that th...

Re: Water accion available?

We did at our first house that didn't have any available water supply. The difference was in those days we used to have very wet winters and easily collected enough water to last us about 8 (careful) months (lovely and soft without cal too). Then we had to have water deliveries over the summer which...

Re: Water accion available?

It also occurred to us that if anything happened to the builder where would we stand with water supplies. We do have a contract with our water supplying neighbour. It was with the escritura when we bought the house and our gestoria asked him to come with us to her office to do a new one, so we do h...

Re: Water accion available?

We have a similar arrangement with a neighbouring landowner who originally owned ours and our neighbour's land. We both have contracts with him for 17.500l pw (he is also with Patamalara). I do find it a pain not being in control of our own water supply but as the OP found, there are no accions/half...

Unfortunately the phone won't let me block their number. It says 'their phone number isn't valid' for setting it to block, so I can only delete it.
