Re: Satellite Box

Hi Finally got it set up so many thanks for all the help and advice. In the end I attached the new cable I bought with the square scart pin at one end to the Satellite box and the other end with the three different coloured plugs, yellow, white and red into the back of the TV. Think it may be in the...

Hi Mark and Beachcomber Many thanks for coming back so quickly with your help. Yes the receiver dish is set up correctly and the satellite box is not a freeview one. The new tv is one of those slimline all singing all dancing LED ones. Previously we connected up the old tv to the satellite box with ...

Re: Savings for Expats

Hi When you say, "Tax resident in Spain" what does that mean exactly. The likelihood of my working in Spain is probaby zero so never going to pay tax here as I would not have any earnings to be taxed!!! So from that basis, would I be deemed to be "Tax Resident in UK"!!! I have he...

Re: Hornets Nest

Hi Wildside and Everyone Thanks soo much for all that information. It is really interesting. I havent actually noticed a nest as such (too busy ducking the aerial bombardments) but there were loads of what I thought were hornets swirling around everywhere outside the door and inside and around the d...

Hornets Nest

Hi Seems hornets have built a nest/taken up residence right by the door/curtain - and I was stung today on the side of the head. How do we go about destroying the nest, safely!!!!! I have asked a few Spanish friends and all of them have warned us to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL as apparently these are Europ...

Re: Fennel & Chillies

Hi Sid Yes, would prefer the "proper" fennel with the bulb but even the dried stuff would be a step forward. The surprising thing is a lot of "mediterrannean" dishes require fennel yet getting hold of it seems bit of a magical mystery tour, so to speak. Thanks for all the replies...

Fennel & Chillies

Firstly, I have never seen Fennel sold in any of the local Supermarkets (we live near Coin). Yet Fennel is I believe, grown in Spain. Would anyone know where it is possible to buy it locally. Same goes for the fresh chillies or even dried chilli powder!!!! Would like to buy some but not seen it arou...

Pensions

Hi I was just wondering. What happens when you leave UK to live in Spain and are still of working age but not able to find work in Spain. Do you just have to wait until you reach UK retirement age of 65 and then contact "Dept of Works and Pensions"????? Any help would be most appreciated.

Satellite Box

Hi Wonder if anyone can help. Our Worldsat Maestro 1000 Satellite remote control is broken so whilst in UK I bought a 4-device Universal Remote Control from Asda. In the little booklet that came with the new remote, it gives you all the brand names of the satellite/TV/DVD/etc and the codes that go w...

Re: Habitat - La Canada

Hi Nimrod, That quip about "....furniture looked as if been raided from set of George & Mildred..." really made me laugh. Funnily enough I was talking with a Spanish friend the other day, who told me that he remembers that series being shown here on Spanish TV and he loved it. How stra...

Re: Courier Service from Spain to UK

Hi spanish lad

Well actually there is. "Plan C" is to open a few "cervezas" and put one´s thinking cap on. Not much of a plan I know ......but better than no plan.

Just as well I´m not bitter and twisted. Well..........not much.
