Re: Cambio or money exchange
I guess it depends on what each individual wants from the card. I use two - a Halifax Clarity MasterCard for all purchases, and a Saga Platinum Visacard ( which I load up with GBP into credit before I use it ) for any ATM withdrawals, and for purchases. Between the two I can avoid any transaction fe...

Re: Cambio or money exchange
If looking at revolut.com you need to check very carefully that it fits what you need, lots of charges and restrictions apply - eg cash withdrawals over £200 per month in total attract a 2% fee !! If this is a "one off" costakid, can't help. If something more regular, you could do worse th...

I would be really interested to know what section of your "Sabadell Home Insurance" you think covers the consequential loss of excess water charges resulting from a faulty piece of electrical equipment.

New York
It's more years than I care to remember since I've been to New York, but I'm planning a trip for a week at the end of November (after Thanksgiving !), for a family celebration and to visit a very good old friend and school mate. I'm looking for a good hotel in the midtown Manhattan area, Times Squar...

Re: Registering with Endesa
Fyfin, I have no idea why but every time I try to log in, I am not offered the "old" way of entry (just NIE and password), I get the "new" request for four boxes to tick. I did phone them and was told they could give me the elusive contract number if I gave them other personal de...

Thanks Enrique - feeling much better already, tranquilo again, shut in my room watching Youtubes of old Chuck Berry concerts and contemplating where we'll go for lunch.

Re: Registering with Endesa
Anybody tell me where their HQ is, so I can try to arrange for it to be nuked. Seems they have jazzed up their client web access ( b******d up is more accurate) and now I can't b****y well get in. Last time I looked it only needed a usario and a contrasena to check the account - now it's a s*****g S...

Re: Ryanair or Ryan nightmare.
Afraid I have to disagree, I think it is a very big security problem. Anyone can get off a bus outside the building, walk through the arrivals area, walk through the supposedly guarded doors and be airside with no passport, no ticket, no screening of bodies or bags. Not my idea of good security. Par...

Re: Ryanair or Ryan nightmare.
I think somebody getting on a plane who shouldn't be on it is about as serious as it gets. I'm a Ryanair fan, but they need a good kick up the backside for this, and I sense over the last year or so they've dropped standards in a few areas, taken their eye off the ball. I'm guessing this was at Mala...

Re: Airline overbooking
I stand corrected, Ashtondav. Nevertheless, it's the airline's decision to offer that type of ticket and not to charge their customer for transferring to another flight - I don't see how they can class that situation as a "no-show". It hardly seems fair that a customer who has paid for an ...

Re: Airline overbooking
The point I'm trying to make Wollie, is that as far as I know every seat Easyjet sell has to be pre paid, so if there is a "no show" there is no financial loss to the airline, in which case there is no need to overbook apart from pure greed. I've no intention of being fair to EasyJet, alon...

Airline overbooking
Simon Calder wrote an article about the above in today's Independent, with the following quote from EasyJet, presumably in defence of the practice : “Last year, nearly 3 million easyJet customers didn’t show for their flights. When this happens, it means aircraft leave with empty seats, increasing o...

EU long term Residence Permit for Non-EU citizens
Does anyone know if this still exists ? That is any non EU citizen (ie a Brit in the future) who has had legal right to live in an EU country for 5 years, and can meet income and health care tests, gets right to stay for good ?

Re: Spanish Nationality?
This is quite intriguing Pamela1, and it may be a case of us both being right, but regulations having changed with the passage of time. One of my golfing partners is Spanish born and bred, retired now but who worked in London for a US company for many years, when he obtained his dual nationality. He...

Re: Spanish Nationality?
I probably put the point a bit clumsily Pamela1, but what I mean is that there is no need for a Spaniard to renounce Spanish citizenship if applying for dual in the UK. Spain will, I believe, allow their citizens dual nationality.

Re: Spanish Nationality?
Not actually correct Pamela1, Spain does allow its nationals to hold dual nationality. It's the other way round where, apart from a few exceptions such as South American nationals, Spain itself will not grant dual nationality.
