Car licence plates.

I've just bought a car from Barcelona. The characters on the front number plate (and the plate itself) are considerably smaller than at the back. I'm sure I've seen this before, but I can't remember where - certainly not in Andalucía.

What's the deal? Is it liable to mark me as a 'foreigner' and if so, is that good or bad!

You didn't say what sort of car it was.

Some cars only have room for a smaller plate. I have seen Alfas and one of the latest Seats with small plates.

16 year update!

I still have this car and after 16 years of ITVs with no questions about the number plate, at the last one they made me change it for a normal size one.
