I know you don't all sit watching TV, but, did anyone see Panorama this evening?
I have been looking at WIFI ,SAT or ADSL connection for my home in spain and have been following the internet threads with interest.
WIFI was a though - until Panorama
Iberband was a thought until I looked at the site, where they offer WIMAX,
M = Microwave. Are they being honest in the description, I thought after watching Panorama.
If you watched it, what do you think ? If You didn't and if you do get a chance to watch a repeat, you should.
I am preparing my trainers for the sprint to my childs school to protest against WIFI unless someone can calm my fears and preparing my early departure from the Uk !
All this without a mention-ish of vunerability of PC attack when you have no idea of how to protect your connection

Yes, I saw it - against my better judgement.
Panorama has gone downhill a lot from an authoratative source of
reliable information to a shrill, scare-mongering, poorly researched
travesty of it's former self.
I have no problem with WiFi, mobile phones, DECT phones,
microwave ovens, walkie-talkies, TV/radio masts, airport radars,
or rays given off by TVs.
I've had a mobile phone for 20 years and am surounded by Wifi
both at home and at work. Not a single side-effect to me or anyone
I know (or have ever heard of). From what I can make out, this story
is a mix of ignorance, techno-phobia and parental guilt.
The maths just simply doesn't support the possibility of a problem.
If you don't want wifi, then that's your choice, but please make it
based on facts, not as the result of 1 TV programme which will soon be
forgotten and flies in the face of all (credible) evidence.

there are people who claim all sorts of negative effects from it.
In the late 60s and early 70s the big thing was radiation from colour TVs
(also revived later as radiation from computer monitors)
In the 80s it was microwave ovens
in the 90s it was mobile phones
now it's WiFi
How come people aren't concerned about sitting in front of their TVs
for hours on end any more? Because they are now familiar items that
are taken for granted.
Likewise for microwaves and computer monitors.
Most people now accept that mobile phones are safe (as they allow their
children to use them)
In time WiFi will be forgotten about as it becomes ubiquitous, too.
Check the BBCs website and you will see that the radiation from WiFis in
schools are 600 times lower than the minimum safety limit, which
was itself revised downwards some years ago.
If you want to keep your children safe feed them a proper diet, don't let
them stray and make sure they take plenty of exercise.

My point of concern was the fact that, the reporter and the gygo monitor man (whatever he is called) ran around schools and town centres with the meter beeping away and showing above the recommended safety levels.
Which lead to the question of opinons on safety and hoping that possibly someone had done a little research to aid in their opinion.
You have every right to think that it was twaddle (and it might be) but I thought the programme put the opposing opinion rather well and it's purpose to question it's safety as a must, especially given that other countries are treating it with caution, particularly around youngsters.
You state people now accept mobile phones are safe as they allow children to use them. I dont accept that, I would not allow my child to have one and have my own purely for emergencies as when I use it, my ear burns up and do feel unwell. I bet a lot of parents allow phones purely under pressure.
