Thanks

Thanks Daisylulu - rumours are that there are very few stalls at the Sunday Car Boot Sale and I wondered if it has a future.
I know about the Wednesday market which is definitely not a car boot sale. Currently we sell second hand English language books there on Wednesdays but do not go on Sundays.

We usually have a stall there every other week on a Sun, it really needs more publicity as there are at times only about 10 stalls.

It starts at 10am and finishes about 1 pm, so it is not very taxing for a Sun.

Whereabouts is this please? I know they have tried a car boot on the Casabermerja/Velez road, near Riogordo, but have only seen three or four stalls there, so not worth attending!

The publicity I suppose will be down to the owner/manager of the hotel.
A market is only good if enough buyers and sellers attend and good publicity is one way to help achieve this.

You take the A92 Antequera to Seville road and exit 142 to Mollina.

You will see the Hotel Saydo right in front of you when you get down to the bottom of the slip road, it is straight ahead then.

This is a weird coincidence - I had not heard of the town until yesterday but took a friend to perform a gig in that hotel, much bigger than I thought on the website I checked. A great night by the way. The lady owner has only been there since November and is gradually feeling her way. From what I could see she will have things moving quickly and will be advertising all activities.

The boot sale on a Sunday may suffer in attendance as Casariche holds a big busy Sunday market, and Casariche isn't that far away.

Hi AlaninSpain what another coincidence I have a gig booked at the Hotel Saydo on Mon23rd July.

It is a Karafolkie night for a large Irish crowd who will be staying in the hotel that week, I do the Karaoke and my mate Bill Bracken wil be doing the Irish folk part of the entertainment.

If you come along along introduce yourself.

The car boot sale is advertised in Local Connections magazine as now being on a Saturday!

Please can anyone confirm which day the car boot is held?

Also are there another stalls and customers to make it worthwhile?

Thanks

Peter, did you know that there's one at Torre del Mar, on every other Saturday morning, near the lighthouse? I believe it has stopped for the summer and is due to restart in September.

Thanks marina - I will look out for that later in the year. No doubt it has been ousted by the craft market that runs there all summer, from 10pm to 5am!

I have just confirmed with Liz, who runs the hotel, that the Car Boot Sales will be taking place on SUNDAYS.

Please ignore the adverts in the current edition of Local Connections magazine.

I checked by phone today that it is now definitely on a Sunday - when it changed from Saturday back to Sunday I don't know. Reading the earlier posts you can see it was on a Sunday back in June.
It does make it difficult when the day changes and leaflets and magazines have conflicting information.

Just for the record, the 'lady owner' is in fact only the manager, and from bitter experience the expression 'bunfight in a bakery' comes to mind.

For all, we were there last night and it is definately back to Sundays as from 29th July, anyone pitching a stall it is free for the next 4 weeks.

Bye the way there was a co*k up made with the dates of the Karafolkie, we had it down for the 23rd and she was insistant that it was the 25th, that date is not good for us so it is now on the 31st June ( Tues )
