Banning pets!
At our AGM tomorrow, a group of us are going to try and get a new rule in our community rules banning the keeping of pets in the urbanisation. (Dog poo & cat's wee problems).
What's our chance do you think?

You could drag the meeting out for so long that either everyone in the room either leaves or falls asleep - then quickly take a vote.
OR you could send an email to everyone you know offering to hold their proxy vote for them as a gesture of kindness.
Can't see it getting passed in a million years myself.

pets
"If future buyers don't like it they can look elsewhere!"
as there is at present no rule against pets maybe those that don´t like pets should move elsewhere instead, at least they have the choice unlike the poor animals.

To be honest this is where bad pet owners cause a problem. When pets become a problem to neighbours feelings do run high and I can understand it. When you live in a 'community' EVERYONE needs to be considerate of their neighbours. Unfortunately this does not happen and then at AGM's this sort of thing is on the agenda.

Okay so what if one of the owners who did not agree to this rule, has a pet and it dies and they want another? Are you saying that in effect they would not be able to do so? My argument with this is that these original owners bought their property without any such rule being in place, and clearly at that time no suggestion of that rule being put into place. Just stating an opinion here, but I would raise merry bloody hell if I were in that situation. Why should I have to consider moving in order to have a pet, when the property I currently owned suddenly had this restriction imposed. We are not suggesting a retrospective rule - just when the perishers die or their owners move - no more!
If future buyers don't like it they can look elsewhere!
I totally agree that some pet owners do exacerbate this situation because of their lack of consideration for those who do not have pets and do not wish to live with their by products, I also think that this is a particularly harsh way to deal with it. Hence why I live where I do.

On second thoughts the chances of getting this 'new rule' passed at the AGM may be quite high. I am guessing that as the time of the AGM is 11.00am most of the spanish workers will in fact be at work. It is a Friday so most of the non-resident UK owners will not attend. Hmmmmmmm so probably retired ex-pats holding proxy votes may be in the majority here.
