Grandaughters Christmas Present

Postby jennyshaw » Mon Nov 19, 2007 6:44 pm

We are going over to Benidorm for 4 nights from Christmas Eve, we will then go up to our village for the New Year, and as you know we will not be able to take many Christmas Presents in our suitcases, what with the weight limit on Ryanair being 15 kilo's.

I have been trying to rack my brains for something i could buy for my granddaughter to open on Christmas Day morning, the only thing I can think of is to buy her a bike, ( she is 9 years old ).

Does anyone know what time the big shops will be open til on Christmas Eve? we will be getting in to Benidorm at about 13.00, am I right in thinking that Benidorm will be like other parts of Spain in shop opening times.

Or has anyone any suggestions?
Jenny

Get her an I pod or MP4 player, they are fully aware of the technicalities and much better than a bike. Bikes are 10 a penny out here!!

Xmas eve sees the shops shut early-if they open at all as this is when the Spanish have thier sit down family meal (much like we do on xmas day).

Looks like the bikes not a good idea then, especially if the shops shut early.
I think she already has a MP3/4 Player.
She keeps asking for a mobile phone but i think thats not good idea too.

Any more ideas, gu ys?

How about a Nintendo ds lite...lots of games to buy for her to go with it. Father christmas gave our 8year old one last xmas..he also saves up and buys his own games..approx 40euros for a game here in Spain.

Jenny,
When I first read your posting , I thought for a split second that you were coming to stay at my house..!!!
Anyway you've been given lots of ideas, but many of the shops in Benidorm do close early, we always closed our shops at 2pm Christmas Eve and everyone headed for the boozer......However there are now many Chinese shops who stay open to the last minute, so if you get stuck I'm sure you will find one....
ps...don't forget that you can take 10 kilos each hand baggage.....

Jenny go for the bike...especially if she lives in Spain children here can enjoy the safety and freedom we did as kids and exercise for free!!I personally hate all those gameboys, playstations etc for kids but each to their own...does carrefour not stay open a little later on Christmas eve?

I was once given a doo-dee-doot at Christmas. I had endless fun and they are really lightweight.
