Children of Guernica

Postby jane grant » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:05 am

Anyone else see this last night in BBC4? Found it quite thought provoking as to how the British Government interpreted the non intervention policy in the Spanish Civil war as being unable to get involved in the care of the 4000 or so children who were evacuated the Britain, whilst Germany's interpreation was to bomb Guernica!

Yes, I saw it and the programme before Part one of the "art of Spain". Both were very interesting. I understood that Franco asked Hitler to bomb Guernica. What a terrible, terrible thing the civil war in Spain was.
