cockroaches
Who suffers from cockroaches here in Spain, i tend to get them round my sink area. They are not very big but they do freak me out. Then the other day i had a huge one in a different part of the apartment, can they come in throught the windows? How do you control them without using lots of chemical sprays? I have put traps down and they seem to be ok but i still gat the odd one?

oh deb, dont worry,i suppose you will soon get used to them, try putting mossie netting at the windows,or even muslim, anything to put a barrier up between you and the roaches.
I know Mercadona sell, insectiside floor wash, that is meant to help keep them at bay, maybe someone will tell you if its any good or not.
Failing that, keep a large baseball bat by your bed.

We had then a lot in Coin, especially four summers ago. All the drains were full of them. The cockroaches were huge but managed to come out of the plugholes. The Ayuntamiento, in response to protests, told everyone to keep plugs in all the sinks, baths, bidets, etc. It worked. Although I've yet to see a cockroach up here I still put plugs in all the time out of habit.

I have just picked up on Peachies posting. I will not repoirt you to the Race Relations Board about stuffing Muslims down plugholes, provided a case of nice Rioja wends it way to me. This is not blackmail, but just an offer of mutual cooperation. Faustino 1 wpild be appreciated.

Don, it is the earth tremors, it moves the keyboard one space along, it is not my incompetence or the fact that somebody has wiped the letters of some of the keys. I can not be blamed for natural disasters, blimey I have caused enough personal ones recently.

I know the yeso rapido and flour works, and to be fair if you have got an inquisitive dog, because of the quantities placed in the saucer at worst you would have a pooch leaving little yeso parcels about the place
Trust me I know as I have ingested a good deal of yeso over the last two years whilst restoring our cave house, but I will spare you any more visual information

if you go with the flour / soda or flour / yeso mix ( ) i´d put it under cupboards, take the raiser boards (plinth) off the front and put it behind there, the dog wont get it.. but THEY will mwahaha
had some in our old house, in this one its ants. buggers get everywhere

I don't really like to point this out...but I'm told that if you spot a cockroach in your home that there will be at least a 100 of his mates lurking nearby....
I did mention on an earlier posting about the cockroach problem, that it is not a good idea to keep old cardboard boxes in your home, particularly ex supermarket food boxes...favourite place for cockroach housing...and silverfish..
