Postby princess peach » Fri Oct 09, 2009 1:11 pm

I need to find the equivilent of Defra in Spain.

Im hopefully going to be recieving some creatures/insects thru the post from UK and i need to find out if Spain will allow them into the country.I have phoned UK customs and excise (and after a lot of laughing  ) they have told me to find the equivilent of Defra in Spain and contact them.
Does anyone know who this is?

I am not sure they have the equivalent, as they don't appear to have the same restrictions as the Uk. Beachcomber has horses, i think, maybe he will know :)

The Nearest equivalent is OCA (Oficinas Comarcales Agraria).

I would think your nearest office would be the one in Estepona:

Sede: Estepona
Dirección: Cmno. de las Mesas, s/n 29380
Teléfono: 951 270 476
Fax: 951 270 492
Director: Dª. Mercedes Toledo Rodriguez
Municipios que comprende:
Manilva, Casares, Estepona, Benahavis, Marbella, Ojen e Istán.
Correo Electrónico: [email protected]

If it is anything like the one in Cártama I can only say 'don't expect miracles'!
Let's go Brandon!

O.k Frog just for you...
These arent ordinary cochroaches, these are Dubia roaches http://www.nyworms.com/dubiacare.htm

I cant just get ordinary "street roaches" as they could be sprayed with pesticides, although he will eat them. They are for my Beadred Dragon "Roger"(and no that really is his name  )
Spain doesnt sell them,so i have to get them from UK.Once i have them( if they live the journey)i can breed them myself.
Bet you wished youd never asked..

and out of interest, assuming that you bought from a pet shop, how comes they dont sell the food for them, or know where / how to get it ? :)

and, do you want the phone number of the english pet shop in cartama, as they might know where / when / what and how, as they sell lizards :)

There you go Roger Lad.Meet Spanish .. lol ~ hes cool isn't he.
We got him from one of Hubbys Workmates in Gib, I was kept in a tank with other babies who Chewed his tail: ((you are meant to separate them as they fight): roll: He was only fed on worms Because the owner did like crickets.
I hate the things as well, but our lizard needs them and thats the end of it: D
The pet shops in Spain do sell them for normal crickets and morio worms, but i like him to have other things, and the Dubia Roaches are a good food for him, Because they have a higher meat to shell ratio than the crickets or buy here .
Aww thanks for the pet shop recommendation SL, i can get quite a bit of stuff from my pet shop in Carrefour, just not Dubia: (so im on a mission .. lol ..

Frog ~ snigger snigger ... : lol:

Awwww Peach, Roger's lovely!!!!! My friend's got one at the moment. It was found at the side of the road with a gammy leg but, it's OK now. She's been feeding him the crickets but, they keep dying on her. How do you keep your crickets? We're going into the campo to try to catch some later as it's costing her a fortune with them dying.

Hi Crazy..The crix get took out straight away form the pet shop box(they WILL die if left in there) They kept in an insect tank(plastic critter type you can get in the pet shops(with lid)
They need a layer of crushed weetabix on the bottom of the tank..they need fresh greens daily.
Also half a raw potato putting in for their moisture.and a bit of an egg box for them to hide under.
Thats it.they need fresh veg everyday and will probably need half a potato every other day,i sometimes mist the tank for added humidity when it was really hot...
The wild caught locust/crix...i usually put in the wild yellow plant that they are mostly found in along with fresh veg and all of the above. The crix will last for weeks if looked after...The crix need more looking after and feeding than the dragon does:roll: lol..I know the all of the above looking after sounds a bit over the top,but after purchasing 4~5 boxes of crix, the last thing you want them to do is die on you, plus, the crix will need a good 24hours gutloading(filling up)before feeding to your dragon, otherwise they are just eating shell with no goodness inside the crickets :(
Is the lizards gammy leg healed?
If not Betadine works well aparently.. :D
what a cute looking guy
Hope you dont feel so insulted now youve seen a pic of him...
