Julian , on this rare occasion I am in full agreement with you, Eurovision song contest in it's original format was ok it has now turned into an annual debacle which (normally) results in a Russian or Russian oriented win, the sooner we lose this the better !!

"Russian oriented"? If you mean former Soviet republics, then there's only been 3 in the entire history of the competition (Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine), and one Russian winner. Admittedly all those 4 were in the last 9 years (they weren't in it originally) - but even so, it still hardly reads like "Russian" domination.
By the way, does anyone know why the crowd in Oslo were so hostile to the Russians? Is it something to do with acid rain or nuclear subs? Strange.

I know there's been a long standing dispute over the Barents Sea and territorial waters.
I think it was resolved to a degree this year.

I never watch the singing part and I normally don't tune in until the voting starts, which I find it to be one of the funniest things on TV.
I love predicting how many votes each country is going to give. I often guess correctly

Thats a bit worrying Mark, suggest you try and get out more mate.......................hehe
That's ok It's only on once a year.I still have 51 saturday nights to go out

Jool,
One does sometimes need to have a lighter topic to direct one's attention to.

It relieves the tensions of the present economic situation and tones down the 'nastiness' that appears recently throughout the 'A COM' Forum..

Gordon

It's the ungrateful Johnny Foreigner and his fear of the dammed Hun, that's reason the UK has done so badly don't cha know.

The former republics aforementioned by you have huge ethnic Russian populations, work it out for yourself and I don't intend to debate the matter further with you! The fact remains however that Eurovision has become quite pitiful and I don't intend to debate that one either !!

I have to admit I love the whole eurovision gig. And I also thought the Danes had the best song even if it was a bit "abbaesque".

What I really liked was the interval routine. All the people in different cities around europe choreographed dancing in the streets.
I thought that was dead cool.
Its called a flashmob..

Britain's Got Talent is more entertaining than Eurovision.

Sums it up really!
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!
