books

Postby patchdog » Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:16 pm

There is shop in Iznajar that sells used books for 2 and 3 euro and gives you one euro when you return the book. This really suits but the shops stock is a bit limited.
Does anyone else know of any other shops who do the same, in either the Malaga, Cordoba or Sevilla province.

Hi, theres the English food shop in Alcala la real, it´s not a million miles from Iznajar, they do book swaps free, might be an idea to buy afew items if you go but they are not that expensive. They are nice people. take a load of books with you and make it worth while, Hope they don´t mind me saying?

Oh, I have to add, they haven´t got loads of books but a few, they will tell you where new English books can be purchased in the same town if the shops not closed down.
Thats it for now

For large stocks, there is the Nerja book centre, and Pasotiempo in Torre Del Mar has a fairly good stock. Both do returns. Bit of a drive from Iznajar though. Carousel second hand shop in Vinuela used to have loads but we haven't been in for a while.

There is usually a good selection of books available at the Moraleda Sunday car boot, just off the A92 towards Granada.
And of course at all of the 'Brit' car boots and for the books you can't find obviously E-Bay /Amazon etc.
And if you are buying from E-Bay , always worth buying 4 or 5 books together...reduces the postal costs dramatically.....

Lately I've been buying books from Bookdepository.co.uk cheaper than Amazon and post free to Spain.

Most of the Farmers Markets, such as at El Trapiche on a Tuesday, have book stalls selling cheap books. Often the proceeds go to the hospice or animal charities, so you can feel good at the same time.

Our alternative, when we run low on reading material, is to arrange to meet up with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. They've always got a good selection of books to pass on! arf!

The Bed Linen Shop in Villanueva de la Concepcion do a range of second hand books, €2.00 each and €0.50 on return. They also do a range of second hand goos plus bed linen of course.

I'm currently struggling with Henry David Thoreau (Walden) - virtually unreadable. I'm not sure if it's the book or the sun or a combination, but I have a permanent headache.

OP: the English Bookshop in Torremolinos, in the passage running parallel to C/San Miguel, is very good, most books 4-5 euros, 50% back on return.

You can buy a copy of my book "The Catalytic Programme" from:-

www.amazon.co.uk

Just type The Catalytic Programme into the search option and it will pop up before your very eyes.

The Catalytic Programme by Terry Callister (Paperback - 25 Nov 2009)
5 new from £11.34 1 used from £14.71

so that's why I asked :D
