Couple of links for you.

We went for a look a couple of years ago now but the immediate roads near the set are quite beaten up and we decided we weren't that bothered after all and carried on elsewhere. (If you look at the Google map the long straight tarmacked road takes you to what was (maybe still is) a hotel. The set is further on down the dirt track)

if you can´t find the bbc soap set the Alhambra in Granada is also worth a visit as a back up.

I assume your tongue is firmly in your cheek when you compare the two places    . I lived in san pedro in 1991 and used to watch el dorado. The actors in it reminded me of the ex pats in our community at the time 8) . So i just fancy a trip to set whats left of it.

At my wife's insistence, we went many, many years ago, and it was all intact then, all roads were good, sounds like it's changed! You missed a treat, they had Marcus's (just asked my wife his name!) underpants framed! Not surprised it's closed though, most Brits now wouldn't know anything about the place or the soap. At my insistence, we have been four times to the Alhambra, now that's much more my sort of place!
Edit. My wife has just said, even went we went around, all those years ago, we were the only ones there, we had the site to ourselves!

Many of the smaller parts and extras were ex-pats, I knew some who was in it. One person I know was in the beach scenes (filmed in Cabopino) and he spent his time getting paid for sitting at the bar. I never saw the series except for odd clips but I know one woman (think it was Polly Perkins??) lived in the coín area, was a close friend of the woman who plays Dot in Eastenders. Sometimes she was in shows at Fuengirola theatre.
