saw an interesting programme on Sky the other day. One of the minority channels maybe 157. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at about 2 p.m.
The programme was the first in a series of 8 in season one. http://sky1.sky.com/sky1-hd-dream-lives-for-sale-crete. I couldn't get my head around the claimed turnover of the small olive grove they featured. maybe that is why Greece is broke!
Bit like a Place in the Sun but a business in the sun. Soon they visit Tenerife and one of the Spanish Costas. It will be interesting to see what businesses are proffered.
Might be of interest to a few Expats. Might also run and run like the Place in the Sun and its spin offs!

Re: Dream Lives for sale
These programs appear to be repeats of a series shown earlier in the year. With these sort of shows I only watch any that concern Spain so cannot comment on the whole series.
Re: Dream Lives for sale
Yes I saw it a long time ago. Interesting but very similar to PITS. Hopelessly optimistic predictions as to turnover etc. Whereas before " this property will rent for £400 pw" It's now "Turnover is £22,000 pa"

Repeated tuesday 1pm sky3 or pick tv in case anyone wants to see it.
It always seems imposible until its done. Nelson Mandela

Hi,
"I couldn't get my head around the claimed turnover of the small olive grove they featured. maybe that is why Greece is broke!"
Guess its the definition of small olive grove, I'd class 30 - 40 trees small, on my calculations to get 7500euro would need 400-500 trees on last years price (in Spain) and that was with a good yield.

Hi gus-lopez,
My figures where based on my yields and price I got.
Last year for me was very high yield.
Would go on your number for average year. That number would be hard graft as I do it all by hand.
Not a "small" olive grove then

Re: Dream Lives for sale
I agree with the comments on small olive grove profitability.
makes you wonder about the accuracy of the other business figures when you know that one is so far out.
Monday 8th is the one from Costa Blanca, can't wait to see what is offered as the couple want a slower pace of life or less stress etc. Maybe estate agency, drain cleaning or 24x7 cafe .

The Problem with these kind of programmes is that they are not concerned with veracity, their working brief is to lure as many viewers as possible using whatever methods, regardless of wether the so called facts are right or wrong.
There will always be low IQ viewers who are glued to this stuff (and probably believe the content to be true) if you want truth get naked and go into the forest with a knife or bow and arrow !!
The postscript I have to add to this posting is that sadly, many people actually believe what the see on the TV !!
