Suntans, what colour are you?
Just wondering how many of us here get a nice golden suntan? I get fed up with friends commenting about me not being very brown/tanned. Do people not realise not everyone goes a lovely brown, some of us are pale skinned and burn easily! My legs have been exposed all summer and are still pale, that does annoy me!! My feet go brown, trouble is they just look dirty!!
Compared to Hubby though I am suntanned

I don't sunbathe, I just get brown when I'm out and about. I was born white, but I've a medium tan. Very noticeable on my feet where I wear sandals, with strap marks!
I'm really concerned about skin damage, particularly on the Horse's head, as the hair has thinned somewhat, so I use plenty of factor 20.

I am only in the sun when I am out and about walking, shopping, cleaning etc. When sitting, reading, relaxing I am always in the shade. I never get what I call a proper tan, and never have been able to even in the days when we did not know it was bad for you. For instance, how do people get a constant tan? I am always pale on the insides of my arms, back of knees etc. My legs never go a good colour despite being uncovered for about 8 months of the year. I get the same comments as Oliveview01 about not being very brown. Maybe lots of people use the spray on tans now?

I've been outdoors most of my life so am "Perma-tanned" in the nicest natural way!

I am now a lovely shade of Dungeon White and as I am now suffering from a deep psychological fear of sun and bright lights I am likely to stay that colour..

Your comment reminded me of a young Spanish lad we saw at a friends house, he had very dark brown legs, he looked like he had been dipped in dark brown coffee, from mid thigh down, the rest of his legs were white ( he had swimming shorts on incase you were wondering ) he said he was a cyclist!

I always say I am a bad advert for living in Spain, I don't sunbathe and don't drink much Our Spanish neighbours are sisters, one is a lovely tanned colour the other you would think she was my sister she is so pale
It is good to know there are other folk out there in the pale skinned club.

I am al so pale, too hot to be out uncovered at the moment
No soporto ver la casa sucia, ahora mismo me levanto y apago la luz.
Re: Suntans, what colour are you?
I have a slight tan to my face, golden tan arms and thats about it.I dont do sunbathing for starters its totally boring and its far to hot where we live anyway. If we have visitors and they want to sunbathe in the middle of the day, fine,as long as they enjoy their own company as I shall be inside the house.

I do of course have a big red nose, but that may be the drink.

Re: Suntans, what colour are you?
We have friends who use factor 2 sun oil! Our lowest is factor 15 but normally 25-30 factor, maybe that is why we are pale!! I would rather be pale than get skin cancer. Nothing worse than sunburn!
Re: Suntans, what colour are you?
I use Clarins anti-wrinkle factor 50 for face and neck but it still enables a nice tan. For the body Australian gold is good at factor 15 but Nivea sensitive is ok too. Can't stand to see those leathery skins. Re. skin cancer they say that it is the white people who bash it all in a 2 week holiday that are most at risk. A bit all year round is fine.

Re: Suntans, what colour are you?
In august I like to pop down to the beach on sunny days for a couple of hours in the afternoon . My local beach has less people on it then than June and July. Generally It's not too hot in comparison to the beaches in the south, which are so hot I can't even set foot on them.
Even then although my arms and face are quite brown, My legs seem to stay pretty white. This year wife has been working during most of August. She has spent a sum total of around 4 hours all year on the beach and has a better tan than me
