Free translation software/site ?

Postby chrissiehope » Thu Nov 22, 2012 1:46 pm

I need to correspond with the health authority in Spain, and I need to do it in Spanish. I have a translation software program, but it certainly doesn't produce good English, so I doubt it will be any better in Spanish !!
I have used Reverso for small things, but again, I'm not sure how it would cope with a letter..

Can anyone recommend a good, free, translation site ?

I've never found one that is that good, but google isn't bad. It's fine for getting a rough idea but for something like health, where you want to ensure it's correct, I'd advise getting it done correctly. ie paying someone if necessary. The problem is going from English to Spanish, you have no idea if what it comes up with is want to say. Coming the other way, you know if it sounds rubbish or is inaccurate. Do you not know someone that could give you a hand, there must be loads of people out there with a good level of Spanish.

I used to use freetranslation.com a couple of years ago, and they offer as human translation online for 7 us cents a word, although I haven't used it. I'm sure there must be others as well.

Hi Chrissy

The best one in my opinion is www.spanishdict.com

If you need a hand let me know, I'm in Antequera.

Best regards

Thanks Babby, I will try that site next time, at the moment I have managed with doing little bits at a time with Reverso :D
