Betting shops?

Postby oliveview01 » Fri Nov 08, 2013 5:44 pm

I have often wondered, is there such a thing as a betting shop in Spain? Not the lottery type ones, ones like William Hill etc. I do not want to gamble, I just wonder where folk can go to put on silly bets :lolno:

If i remember rightly some years ago there were some brit bars opening up as betting shops, and in la cala some irish book makers, they survived for a short while and I think they were closed down.
if im wrong im sure someone will tell me.

No, there a no betting shops in Spain, they are illigal. They started opening up and the Government shut them down, The Guardia Civil went in and cut the cables off the TV`s and closed them down immediatley. All gambling in Spain (even bingo) has to be liscensed by the Government.

All the big betting companies are based in Gib for tax reasons. Not sure if they have high street style shops that you can put a bet on tho.

Time for an old joke......

Three Jewish bookmakers are coming home from a race meeting. Crossing a road, one of them gets run over and killed !
One of the other two said to his companion, I knew him better than you, so I will go and tell his family.
So he goes and knocks at this door.
A woman opens it and he says "the widow Cohen " ?
and she says, "no, I am Mrs Cohen, I am not a widow"......
and he says "you wanna bet "......
