Just looking at the bank rates on the BBC web site, as is my morning routine I see the pound up against most, but not all, currencies and sitting at 1.292 against the €. Pity it's not pension day.

I saw that. I still see the pound rising against the euro .

This small increase might be down to
"A top European Union lawyer has said that the European Central Bank's planned bond buying programme is legal.

The bond buying is aimed at stimulating the eurozone economy, but faced a legal challenge from Germany.
However, with the eurozone facing the threat of deflation and recession, there is increasing pressure on the ECB to start quantitative easing, which would involve starting an OMT bond-buying operation."

or more UK hints at small increase in interest rates sometime ( to avoid deflation perhaps)

There is a snag to the current exchange rate, if ine is buying goods from the UK but paying in Euros. Last year the website for our bridge club cost £43 or €51: this year the same £43 costs the club €56.

Lyric, ours is a 'proper' website, where the results of tournaments are published each week, players can find partners and so on. Very good value, including our own domain. I pay in GBP, from a UK account, but all the club accounts are in Euros, so it is simpler to repay myself in that currency, and far cheaper than having a Spanish bank account for the club and sending foreign money.

Well, the magic 1.30 has been reached, 1.3011 just now, in fact. And it does just so happen to be pension day for me today, my first ever occupational pension payment.

For me it's come at the worst moment. I earn most of my money in Euros and I'm popping over to London this weekend.
For us the question is. Is it going to slide more or increase over the next months before our next trip at Easter.

It seems that some decision by the Swiss National Bank has caused the Euro to slide rather than the pound to rise. Remains to be seen how long it lasts before the market finishes adjusting. A crystal ball would be useful. Currently at 1.3078

I'm glad to hear others using Caxton FX - rate today is 1.28 which for their package I think is good, guess many know of this card but if not , it is a charge card which you load in £ very easily via text or email at a decent rate and there are no charges for paying with it or withdrawing from the cashpoint in Europe .......
Sold up and now spending the kids inheritance wisely on travel, good food and wine - life's too short not to !

Caxton is excellent for withdrawing small amounts, but Currency Fair (IMO) usually offers the best rates for larger amounts. Over Christma they waived the €3 fee.
