Postby jonbar.1 » Mon Jan 25, 2021 3:38 pm

I understand that from 00.01 on Wednesday 27th Jan,for14 days,Torrox will join the list of Municipalities to close.
My wife & I have appointments, on 8th Feb, with Specsavers Fuengirola to pick up our new glasses.( already paid for).Is such a visit to an Opticians allowed?

This may be so but ensure you have some kind of document or a message on your phone from Specsavers in order to justify your journey. If you don't have anything like this ask them to send you something, either email or text message.

Yeah you need to ask whereever you are going to send you a form (cant remember the name) for justifiable travel showing you have an appointment. We have a dentist appointment in torrox so will be ringing them

All the Nerja Lidl customers will be upset as now that the Nerja Lidl is being rebuilt, and they were going to the Torrox store. I’m not aware of any other Lidl that isn’t in a lockdown zone.

opticians are classed as medical so I cant see a problem. I guess you have an appointment card.

But, if you are stopped by the police don't say you have to pick up your new glasses as you can't see to drive with your existing ones. :shh:

I would prefer to and do, travel to Specsavers in Fuengirola.
Originally I went to local opticians and got my eyes tested, the three I
went to said I didn't need new glasses but if I just wanted new ones for a change of style/ colour they would cost upwards of €xx.
Went to Specsavers had a more comprehensive eye test and they said they could improve on my existing prescription.
Had a far lower quote for new glasses so I ordered them and yes, they were an improvement.
Cheers

Some time ago my wife bought a pair of prescription spectacles in a local opticians. After about three months the lenses started to fall out on a regular basis. She now goes to Optica 2000 in Málaga.

We travel to Specsavers because;
a) Highly comprehensive eye-test
b) Huge range of frames
c) Highly professional ( English- speaking) staff
d) Prices to beat anything local ( even taking into account: petrol & parking.

Thanks to all for the input on "Visiting Opticians in Fuengirola".
I'd like extend my request with a similar question:
I usually arrange my "Amazon.es" orders to be delivered to the "Hub-Locker" at the Repsol Garage, on the way into Nerja. The reason being: I can pick-up whenever I like; 24/7. ( I know there is a pick-up point in Torrox)
Do you reckon this trip will be permissable during Torrox closure? Obviously I will have the appropriate Amazon "collection"email to show.

Unless it was something urgent like medical I doubt it. If you show the GC at a road block you are collecting something thats non essential you have a good chance of getting a fine.

Agree with Costa. Not unless its something essential like medicine etc.
