There we go again What has what newspaper people read got to do with anything?
What mission are we talking about. Asking people not to be rude when they disagree with another view point Then I must be on a mission then. It's more about respect.
although your first point I have to agree with

What's an NBF? What's The Guardian? Que? I don't think my language skills (topic of this theme, remember) are up to things like nbf. It can't even be a word as it has no vowels!

Just a guess - New Best Friend?
Seems to be the current "in" phrase to use when wanting to be a bit sarcastic, so my daughters tell me!
Lavanda, I take it the question about the Guardian was tongue in cheek! If not, a newspaper diagonally opposite to the Daily Mail in its views!

AH! Yes! That makes sense. NBF. Fine. As for the Guardian and the Mail - don't read them. I'm a Daily Telegraph, El Pais (in English) and Reuters person. There's also this interesting link:

As you can guess - it's all on-line for us in the depths of Spain.

I agree I am exciteable!! I do not dispute this fact. I am of a happy disposition and proud of it! Many may just think I am a dizzy blonde!(by the way, there were 4 laughies, one confused and one smilie, not 6 smilies! I do like to mix them up a bit! )masterob wrote:karandjohn, Six smilies in one post, and you accuse others of being excitable!
Now masterob, lets get the sentence complete if you want to pull it apart...masterob wrote:Just one thing though, being "active members" and "we have lived here over 5 years" does not, in my view, give you superiority over the views of others. As ever, it´s quality not quantity.
I wrote 'that saved us having to redo the form when we got there. Due to us all being active members on here for a while, we have gotten to know each others situations, and thanfully El Cid knew we had lived here over 5 years so was checking we were ticking the right box.'
Now, if you read care-full-y....mentioning we have lived here over 5 years is necessary for El Cid to give the right information on how to fill in the form correctly, NOT anything to do with having superiority over the views of others! In fact, far from it!
I am not sure what you mean by quality not quantity , the quality of my life here is great thanks. If you are going off at a tangent and meaning quantity of posts...then i agree with you! There are many people with a wealth of knowledge who only post when they have something helpful to say...then there are others like me, who like a good old gossip and chinwag sometimes, with quite often no important information to impart!
In future, I suggest if you want to give 'your view' on comments, then at least give the person the courtesy of quoting their comment in full!
Just a thought...but doesn't the username 'masterob' make you think you are some sort of hierarchy to us mere karens and johns?

karandjohn, no comment, happy to let you have those last words!
Re: BBC Real Story & expat language skills
I just couldn't let you pick apart a sentence and misconstrue all that was said, Rob. That is not what this Forum is about.
As long as you have learnt from this, then I am happy to just move forward.

karandjohn. The reason I did not respond beyond "no comment" was simply that I had no desire to exchange silly playground (infants) " yeah.. yeah.. my nick is better than yours" remarks. As to the rest of what you wrote, quite frankly I´m totally bored and well over it now and so should you. Continuing just comes across as silly and petulant.

Pot...kettle....?
Ps I don't know what a 'nick' is (other than my cousins husband), so maybe yours is better than mine!!
