Almeria is one of the sunniest and driest parts of Spain and if you stick to the coast I think the winter temps are as good as it gets in Spain.

I haven't been to Almeria the city, but toured around a bit last year. I enjoyed the Cabo de Gato natural park.

In places there are huge areas of poly tunnels which are not very attractive.

inland Almeria, doesnt suffer from the plastic, in many areas is very green, but as one heads into the mountains can be quite cold inland. Indeed about 3 years ago when Baza recorded -14C one night, the unofficial temp in Hijate (village on borders of Almeria & Granada provinces) was - 17C
