[email protected] PHISSHING email ?

Postby flan_taster » Tue Nov 14, 2006 11:43 pm

Has anyone else received a PHISHING email suggesting that it emanates from Andalucia.com and saying that there are "amazing advertising offers" by emailing [email protected] ?

Yes, so did I but not only to the email address I have given in my profile which, I suppose, is fair enough but to others that I have never used on here.

Sorry, ADC, but they have been bounced right back to you along with all the other unsolicited junk. I hate spam almost as much as I hate lawyers.

Yes it is. But I don't bounce any more - no real point, the spammers send the stuff out by the container load and don't care if most of it is junked etc etc. Just add the address to your Blacklist to be hidden and deleted if it's ever received again. Use the 'Don't show hidden emails' button and you won't see it again.

I had one too. How do they get the email addresses? I asked for mine not to be shown, but does that mean it's visible in my profile? I thought I was the only one who could see it there.

Had one also ..just deleted it . Only one to my secondary e-mail address though. I use that one to filter things as it is a hotmail address and free with lots of space available.

I'm confused :? Was the email from A.com? Does that mean they are spamming their own site? :? :? :?

Well, certainly their own members!

Perhaps 'Andalucia' will make a statement and apologise in due course!!!

Marina, Seemingly so, not the site but the members.
Beachcomber how do you figure they got your other e-mail addresses?

The one I got was a newsletter. It also had the facility to unsubscribe at the bottom. I assumed I had received it as I had recently advertised some stuff in the classifieds.

I don't know how they got my other email addresses. Maybe they just spammed all @telefonica.net addresses.

I thought "phishing" was sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft.

I also received the e-mail from Andalucia.com but, as I recall, it did not ask for such information so hardly "phishing" surely?

Beachcomber: If so that seems a bit naughty to say the least. I got two, one was a newsletter and the other a poster. Both came to the e-mail I gave when I joined the forum and both had a place to tick to unsubscribe which seems fair enough to me. The site has to generate its advertising income somehow. However random mailshots to unconnected e-mail addresses are another thing alltogether.
