Interesting considering how litigious America can be about copyright. For example 'The Pebble Beach Golf Co.' in California have tried to copyright a living tree, on their property, as their logo and they vigorously pursue and threaten artists and photographers who use the image of their tree for financial gain without permission. This seems to me a kind of insanity which they get away with unchallenged purely because of their financial muscle.

Aw, gee Grouser, if Dirty Harry wants to have an old piece of wood held up by a cable as his logo, why not?

No problem if he doesn't sue me for 'copyright dilution' (whatever that is) if I paint a picture of it.
Am I feeling a lucky punk?
Not really, if it was $50,000 up front to get a lawyer out of bed over there, ten years ago.

Thanks Bob.
I already did.
Ten years ago.
I found out about Pebble Beach's attitude after the event and exhibited the offending piece with a censored sticker over the tree.
Incidentally, at the time it was owned by a Japanese consortium I believe,

I’ve got an old cinematographer friend who lives in Carmel and would be willing to smuggle the painting into the PB Club House and hang it over the back bar just to get under Clint’s skin again. That is if you still have the “censored” sticker.

(Yes, the Japanese owned it twice)

Sorry Bob, it sold long ago. Someone out there has it.
I also produced a limited edition postcard, with a giant head of broccoli stuck over the tree, which I would have pasted in here, but can't seem to find any of those either.
