Oh I am sorry, Enrique. I should have explained more carefully but was in a rush.
It is a member from this forum who is trying to log in and cannot enter for some reason. They contacted me to see if anyone here could try to help them regain entry.
They were able to log on yesterday but today, it has refused them. I will contact admin for help for them.

Hi anis,
"I will contact admin for help for them.

Don't hold your breath on that one..............I'm trying to get some ones account activated but not getting any response from Admin. :(

Might be worth your friend trying to login to A.com on another system i.e. your's to see if there has been a corruption on their system. :?:

Thanks Beachcomber - they tried that and still no luck.
This is the message they are receiving -

You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to solve the CAPTCHA below.

The problem is - the empty box is there ready for them to fill in, but there is no catcha for them to copy.

Enrique, they allowed me to try on my pc but I got the same message as above and no catcha again.

Hi anis,
A.com is a phpBB ....................

Some light reading.......................

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2123204

From the last post on above thread.............

" but he fixed those files on the server, and captcha function is now working again.

So now, at least, if we have the problem of too many log in attempts, the board will at least properly generate the captcha again so users can once again log on."

Have to see if Admin pick up on it :?: :?:

There may be a time limit so leave login for 24hrs - 48 hrs :?: and try again.

It seems to be a more general problem.

I have just heard from another member who is having the same problem and he has also heard the same from other members.

So - you are not alone!

Same thing happened to me but I've got around it.
Entered the login screen and selected "I've forgotten my password"
When I received my new password signed in with it and my Userid OK.

I wonder how many other people are locked out who haven't realised they can still read messages and see the solution.

I've suffered the same problem today as well.

Just saw Gerry's solution above to get round the problem.

Thanks Gerry.

Mmm....I couldn't either...BUT when I tried the 'forgotten password' idea it kept saying it didn't 'know' me...yikes. Anyway, that was on IE and somehow on Firefox it had automatically logged me in....but I fear the outcome if I forget and shut this window completely..

It sounds like someone is trying to hack our forum accounts.

I've had problems too but the captcha thingy has appeared and then logged me in, but then when I tried to put a comment on I was told to log in again. Most odd!
