Logging In

Postby alaninspain » Sat Feb 03, 2007 12:52 pm

It seems that I now have to log in each time I wish to post.
I sent a message to A.Com asking if this is normal, but no reply as yet. Has anyone else had this problem?

I sometimes have to log in but only after I have carried out a comprehensive clean up of my computer and have erased all of the cookies.

Are you using a clean up program like Tracks Eraser or CCleaner?

[Teaching grandmother mode on... sorry if this is too obvious...]

Alan, have you checked the box beneath your login details which reads something like 'remember me' or some such? When you have logged in is your username in brackets after the words 'Log out' at the top of the screen?
Brian.

I don't know if it's connected but ever since I downloaded Internet Explorer 7, none of my log in details will save on any sites which means logging in everytime.

Alan,

We have not changed any settings or know of any tecnichal issues.
As other poster have suggested it does sound like the 'cookies' kept on your computer being deleted or supressed.

Have you tried:

Tools
Internet options
Content
Autocomplete/Settings

See that all the boxes are checked.
Brian.

Malagaman 2005: This problem has arisen just out of the blue much later than when I downloaded Messenger Update. It did delete my password for Outlook Express and would not allow access to any of my old messages or folders. I have resolved that problem, but I do not think my
logging on problem is related. I have also been told by others that Microsoft admit there were, or even still are, problems with this download. It seems to affect different PCs in different ways.

Beachcomber: Thank you. I have downloaded trial 15 day version of Tracks Eraser & hopefully removed tracks to cookies. I have however, just had to log on again to send this message. I will keep trying every suggestion for a couple more days.

...but it's the cookie tracks that you need for automatic login. Once you've deleted the cookie for andalucia.com you have to login again.

If you're using IE7 try this:
Go to an A.com page.
Click view
webpage privacy policy
highlight an a.com address
summary
always allow cookies
Then go back to page.

Yes, I meant that if you were running a clean-up program you could be removing the cookies needed to prevent you having to log on each time.

If you are going to use Tracks Eraser you will need to program it to keep certain cookies and erase others.

I've been using Cookie Jar for a long time now and I find it perfect for choosing what I want to keep or delete - there's even an 'undecided' jar. It's only a small 68kb desktop facility. Some websites charge but there are freebies around.
