90 in 180 days

Postby costakid » Tue Feb 23, 2021 11:01 am

If between 29th of march and 17th of august I spend 77 days in Spain when am I allowed back to spend more than my remaining 13 days that I have left from my 90?

Hi,
Had a play with various calculators.........usual disclaimers .....have to be flexible on the dates

Could get 151 days in Spain in a "normal" year with two trips. That's not going for a straight 90 stay..

Presumably you can come back anytime you want as you have only been in the country 77 days. You have 90 in any continuas 180

Impossible to answer given your original post.

The answer will be different depending on whether (for example) you spend 70 days at the beginning of your dates or, say 70 days at the end of your dates - or whatever the distribution of dates is.

Just use a schengen calculator. It's a bloody inconvenience. I used to spend April to July (90 days) and September to December (90 days). Now. Impossible to do those dates. Bloody stupid. Why not make it 180 days in any 365?

Is it 180 days in any 12 month period or from Jan 2021 to December 31st 2021 and every year after.

It is 180 days from your date of entry. Unfortunately different online calculators give varying results.

It's a nightmare working out future dates, if anyone has prefered months of each year to be there then the rolling 90 in 180 days becomes very complicated..It couldn't have been worse for non resident property owners.I can manage it with the 5/6 visits we usually make during the whole year however the plan was to eventually stay for longer periods and cut back on flights.
Not going to be easy for many people to keep on top of constantly doing the maths and there will be some who will throw in the towel and sell up. :(

As long as you dont stay for more than 90 days in the following 180 from when you first set foot into the schengen then its probably easier just to work it out in that way. So arrive on jan 1st and just count the days you are in shengen for the following 180. And work it out like that if you want to hop back and forth

No. That works for your first visit, and is obvious. It is the subsequent visits that require calculation as the 180 days rolls forward.

Arriving 1st jan leaving end feb and returning for June is very different from arriving 1st jan leaving end jan and returning may and june for future visits.

Use the calculator i have highlighted.

Of course you lads could do a family tree search and see if Granny was Irish (or French) and then apply for an EU passport.

I'm assuming that from now on non resident Brits will no longer be able to enter or leave via the passport egates in Spain..We will queue to have our passports stamped.?

It's strange that 2 months in, nobody is sure how it will work yet. My guess is passports will not be stamped but in most points of entry they will be scanned and will register entry and exit onto a database.
