Bus timetable

Postby Stuasrt » Mon Jan 22, 2024 4:37 pm

Hi All. My partner and I need to travel from Jaen to Martos on 28th March and don't have a car. I've googled bus services and it does say there are a number that day using Cambus but I can't find an actual timetable on their website. Does anyone know if there are buses and can you put a link on here to where I can see the timetable? Thanks.

back in the late 90s some swedish friends came to stay in Alcaucin ... they had no car, so needed to travel around by bus ... they asked local people where they could find the bus timetable ... they got blamk looks ..."why do we need a timetable? ... we all know when the bus leaves' !!!

The other thing, Gavilan, is that although we know, for example, there is a bus that goes from Algeciras to La Corunna (lots of stops and changes of driver) if you want a bus from Jerez de la Frontera to Mérida, Google will draw a blank. You have to put in a start destination and an end one and then pick the stops you want. The system is pants. It is only useful when you understand it but no one does. To get from my village to Córdoba is easy on two buses but it took me days to work it out and that included the help of local Spanish friends. However, bus travel is comfy and cheap in the end.

Hi. More on buses. In Martos there is a very good local bus service which costs next to nothing per trip. 95c from bus station to our nearest bus stop. The coaches are obviously small so they can navigate the very narrow streets but are modern, clean and comfortable and the drivers/passengers don't mind our mangled Spanish. We thought we had the system hacked and although we usually walk into town and only catch the bus back from the bus station to save walking up the hill. However last week we decided to catch the return bus a couple of stops from the bus station near a café we use for morning coffee. We had looked at the timetable posted in this bus shelter and noted the times and left the cafe in plenty of time. We sat and waited, and waited and eventually the bus arrived 10 mins later than what we had read. It appears the bus timetable displayed in the bus shelter showing times of 1100, 1140 and so on are exactly the same as the one at the bus station and indeed every bus shelter on that route. It seems all the locals need is the departure time from the bus station and they know how long it takes to get to their stop and they arrive at the correct time to catch the bus. We'll get there in the end!!!!

On@ a lighter note, when I lived in Torrox pueblo the locals told me "don't bother looking at the timetable, it's only a guideline" !
