Andalucia ad I saw in Luton Airport

Postby sensei_mike » Fri Mar 23, 2007 1:03 am

Hi guys,
I was at Luton airport in London in early january and I saw this huge ad on the wall of the check-in area saying "Andalusia loves you" with a picture of someone on the beach to the right of the above text. Has anyone else seen this ad? Does anyone know what company's ad that is? I really like it

Hey Sensie_mike

Noticed that you posted that at 4 in the morning. Insomniac or in a different time zone?

Those ads are on display at Gatwick too. The funny thing is the spelling of Andalucia is contradictory. One part of the poster spells it Andalucia, the other part spells it Andalusia. Now I'm confused which is correct - it should be spelt Andalucia shouldn't it? Is there a reason for the two different spellings?

ANDALUCIA is the correct Spanish spelling. The "S" is
an English alteration.
It's rather like SEVILLA being misspelt as Seville!

This could be the start of a tedious discussion on how to pronounce the names of foreign cities.

For example do we say Paris (rhyme with Harris) or

Paree as the french themselves say.

I suppose when in the country use the local way and when at home, use the angicised version.
