Any delays at Malaga?

Postby frank » Mon Sep 24, 2007 8:28 pm

There is talk of maybe some delays at the airport, I think it was due to start last week, something about passport information. Has anyone heard of anything? I personally don't think it will be anything to worry about, but my brother was asking, so I said I'd ask the experts! :D I seem to remember something like this happened in May, but never noted any difference.

Yes, last week, just wondered if anyone had experienced, or had heard of any delays.

As far as I am aware the API is only required for flights INTO Spain, not out (to UK).

Thanks Olive, I can handle that! After waiting 90 mins for a car in April, that´ll seem like nothing. :D

We went into Malaga last Thursday, and back out again last night, with no delays, other than security at Gatwick.

easyJet to Liverpool on Saturday night was cancelled due to "technical problems". 163 angry Scousers went ballistic when told there would be no hotel. The poor Spanish girl making the announcement actually said they'd be put in the Novotel!
Under EU regulations introduced in 2005, my partner, who was booked on this flight, received a refund of both outbound and return fares, since there were no alternative flights available that would have been suitable. But the additional €250 compensation which should be paid was not offered, on the basis of "extraordinary circumstances", specifically, "unexpected flight safety issues". This seems to me like the all-encompassing get out clause. If the pilot was too drunk to fly, would that be the airline's responsibilty, or an "unexpected flight safety issue"?
Anybody ever heard of anyone succesfully claiming compensation for a cancelled flight?
