Flamingos
The lake at Fuente de Piedra, recent rain has increased the water level to 28 cm, 2cm below the minimum level required by the birds. Also, over two or three days the number of birds on the lake has increased from 260 to 1300. Environment observers have seen sudden egg laying activity commence so it seems more than likely that breeding will go ahead this year.

Malaga to Antequera would be quicker via motorway then head for Fuente de Piedra. The route from the coast via Ronda is horrendous and takes quite a while because of all the hairpin bends on the way.
Did you know you can plan routes on www.viamichelin.es

Teba has nicked the flamingos!
On the road from campillos to Teba/Ardales lakes on the left hand side, before you reach the right hand turn to Teba, they have enlarged/created a lake that is fed from newish looking drainage channels. This is now full of flamingos and other wading birds. Deliberate attempt to lure them away from Fuente de la Piedra or nature finding a way?
