There's a board at the airport which list the official fares

Just googled Malaga Airport Taxi's fora price. seems to be 41euros for single journey taking approx 30mins for 2 people. Same price on Sundays at the times you gave.
Plenty to choose from by the looks of it.

Every taxi driver whose cab I've taken from the airport has an official list with him and is willing to show it to the passenger.

If a taxi driver tries to overcharge you ask for a proper receipt stating the date and time, pick-up point and drop-off point, the total amount paid and the licence number of the taxi and DNI of the driver.

If he refuses ask him to drive to the nearest policia local or guardia civil. Above all don't allow yourself to be intimidated. This is how these licensed bandits get away with it.

The cost of a taxi fare should be roughly €1 per kilometre.

i see your point beach, but thats hard to do if the driver has a crowbar in your wifes face,on this occasion i must say your advice is pointless, dont think a driver would do that, take you to the pigs i mean

it is unusual tho,and i have only had one row in 10 years with a driver,he lost, just got the money i was prepared to pay that i was normally charged

i do agree with the dont be intimidated bit though, but 1 euro roughly from the airport doesnt really work, again tho i see your point

ask before you get in is the only advice you need, they all have a book and will show you that if you ask,if they wont, get the next one

friends of mine were charged 35 euro recently from malaga airport to fuengirola. This I thought was a very good fare.

I presume you are aware that there is also a train service from malaga airport to fuengirola.

See here for a guide to taxi fares:

http://www.andalucia.com/travel/airports/malagataxi.htm

€35 was over the top, not by very much but over the top.

Unfortunately, 'the next one' will not take you if there is a 'colleague' in front of him in the queue because he will be victimised by the other drivers if he does.

There should be a board showing the fares to various destinations outside of the arrivals hall but as soon as it is replaced it is removed again by the drivers.

They jealously guard their licences to print money and any threat to report irregular conduct will generally result in them backing down.

Beachcomber, I was going to put that link on originally but noticed it was last years rate.

No wonder the poor original poster has never replied, it looks like everyone is trying to rip him off

This is from the AENA web site. Presumably up to date:

Always ask for a ticket or factura, they are 10 times less likely to overcharge you.
Also if you leave something in the taxi you have a number to call.

Hi, did'nt reply as left the next day and just got back. We paid 35euro to and from the airport and out of interest I asked a couple of drivers in Los Boliches and the answer was 35 euros. I take the point about a dsiplayed price list etc but when you arrive and see the lenght of the queue you'll agree you just want to get moving.
