Easyjet credit card charges
I see Easyjet are upping their credit card charges. I assume it is still one charge per booking though.
Glad I still have my Visa Electron card.

Visa Electron with Easy jet and Prepaid Mastercard with Ryanair to avoid credit card charges.

Thanks Steve, i was aware of what you say but i am wondering if the cost of having the two cards and the maintainance of the two accounts would outway the advantage, also is the Visa electron the same as the regular visa.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Easyjet credit card charges
hi carrowcrin, I use a pre paid FairFX.com card for Ryanair flights. It can also be used in shops, atms etc. Very easy to use via the internet to charge it up and keep tabs on the account. Hope this helps

Re: Easyjet credit card charges
I have an account with Cajamar and visa electron is the standard card they issued me for use in shops and cash machines. Dont know what other banks here issue. Dont think it is the same as a standard visa card though.

Hi curatokid,
You seem to be on a similar mission to me, i took the advice of sandramay and went to FairFx.com and all the info seems to be there.
I have all my flights bought up until next feb and will leave it for a couple of months, i would be interested in finding out how it goes if you want to send me a private message.
Good luck

I have a fairfx card and it works really well. There is a one off charge to buy the card, I think about £12.00 but I went via moneysaving expert or similar, (can't remember which site but you'll find it if you google it) and got one for free.
You can top it up online and their GBP/euro rates are very competitive

The Fairfx card seems quite popular. No good to me though as you need to be a UK resident to get one.
Are there similar pre-paid Mastercards cards available in Spain that don't require a bank account opening?

Re: Easyjet credit card charges
Tried to get a faiFX card late last year to give us easy access to local currency on our winter around the world trip. They refused to send a card to our UK address since it has postal redirection to us here in Spain. Absolutely ridiculous given that unlike a credit card which don't seem to have a problem with postal redirection they are holding only my preloaded cash not advancing credit.
In the end I got an Escape card which was a little lower on the moneysavingexpert top ten ist. Also a pre paid master card so should avoid charges on some airlines.
Worked like a charm all around the world......

The ones I looked at all required utility bills as proof of address.

I got my FairFX card free through Martin's Money Tips link and did not have to provide any utility bills only my on line bank details that I would be using to load the card. If I remember correctly it took about a week to arrive.

I have just looked at FairFX site and it clearly states that you must be a UK resident and that sometime in the future they will supply non UK residents, any ideas where a spanish resident can obtain a Pre Paid Mastercard now ?

Re: Easyjet credit card charges
The other option I considered to get a FairFX card was to get my daughter who is in the UK to get one and pass it on along with the username and password for account access and PIN. I would be topping up the card from my bank account so didn't see an issue. In fact I asked FairFX this exact question only phrased it as if I was wanting to send money from my bank account to my daughter's card while she was on holiday. They said that was fine.curatokid wrote:I have just looked at FairFX site and it clearly states that you must be a UK resident and that sometime in the future they will supply non UK residents, any ideas where a spanish resident can obtain a Pre Paid Mastercard now ?
I guess as long as you only plan to use the card in ATMs for cash or online then I wouldn't envisage any problems.
