Re: Nerja to Ronda trip
AFAIK there isn't a rail line between Malaga and Ronda, although there is one from Granada to Ronda (it carries on to Algeciras).
Whilst staying in Nerja on holiday once, we made a 2 day trip by catching the bus from Nerja to Granada (we went to Almunecar and caught a connection there as the bus times were more convenient, although I think there is a direct bus from Nerja quite early in the morning). We stayed overnight in Granada (didn't book the hotel in advance, just walked into one we liked the look of) and caught an early train the next morning from Granada to Ronda. After spending the day in Ronda we caught the bus to Malaga and then on back to Nerja. It was an enjoyable trip and didn't cost a lot, not much over 100€ for the two of us in accommodation and fares, as I remember.

Re: Nerja to Ronda trip
There is only one train per day Malaga/Roda direct and it is totally useless for day visits . You can catch the Seville train from Malaga and change at Bobadilla:

Apparently you will have to do your own typing as the timetable links do not work. You want medium distance trains to Bobadilla. Then,go to "Find stations" for the Bobadilla/ Ronda link

Re: Nerja to Ronda trip
I am assuming you will have to travel via Malaga and it should be easy to get to Malaga from Nerja.
The bus company that travel to Ronda is Los Amarillos at sales stall 19 and i will give you the departure times.
Malaga 8.00, 10.00, 11.30, 12.30, 13.00, 16.00, 18.00, 19.00, 20.00, 20.30
Ronda 7.00, 8.00, 9.00,10.00, 12.30, 15.00, 16.00, 17.00, 19.45.
At the weekend from Malaga the 18.00 and 20.00 do not run,
From Ronda the 7.00, 10.00 and 15.00 do not run.
This timetable is only two weeks old and should be accurate.
Hope this helps
