golf clubs

Postby carrowcrin » Fri Dec 02, 2011 3:38 pm

I was thinking i may buy some golf clubs for the coming year and wonder if it is better to buy in Spain or in UK.
I fly to both Seville and Malaga and any advise as to what is available in either of these areas would be most welcome.

Many thanks

If you know what you want I suggest you buy online from the UK.

These people have good deals and free carriage.

Some online golf shops may be more or less competitive than each other but they all have special deals, usually on last year's clubs and the savings can be huge.

Just check out all of them.

If you are new to the game it is best to buy a cheap set, maybe a used set and then try various brands out when you get better. There are some good deals as they can't sell them. We gave our old ones to charity.

If possible it is best to try out the clubs first. American golf will equal any deal if you ask.

And let's face it, a bat is a bat.

Why not look in the small ads in Spanish sports mags? I've tried to get into this hideous game 3 times now in my life and on each occasion have pushed the boat out on good gear, then got fed up totally with it and sold the bats and all the gear 6 months later for coppers.............people were getting a fortunes worth of new gear for the price of starter clubs, Mrs. was not happy in those times and has banned me from ever being a golfist again :(

Sur in English often had ads in for used clubs.

I don't take golf seriously, just a social, keep fit, fair weather golfer :) If we played with another couple OH used to keep asking me to stop talking....bit like having a Sid there

Thanks for advise, i am beginning to think it is probably best buy in the UK and bring over. It is too risky to buy online though it would be a great excuse when playing as sometimes the ball does not go the planned route.

If you are near to a Decathlon then they have some very well priced starter packs. Their accessories are also reasonable quality and certainly cheap.

As a regular golfer, I'd advise buying in UK as club and equipment prices are around 20 - 25% more expensive over here, for some reason that even my friend who owns a golf business is at a loss to explain other than manufacturers still think it's a luxury market here.
As said elsewhere there may be bargains in the small ads, but check before you commit!

For a challenging game of golf you need to play a round at the Antequera golf course and afterwards have tapas in the bar
