How much cash needed?

i had a caxon card and lost my pin, they did give me a new pin straightaway, but its a preloaded card, I did a job in India for a company last year and that was how my wage was paid to me, thought it was a good idea too but it wasn't a debit card.

One can use a Caxton Card to pay for services ( in Spain ) without extra charge, and of course draw euros from a cashpoint ( 2 liner ! )

...which has absolutely nothing to do with my original question of how much cash needed to get through Spain, France and England now, does it?
Why on earth would he want a 'caxton' card resulting in him trailing around France looking for a cashpoint, when all he wants to do is fill with fuel or pay a Toll! Doh
