Ryanair cabin allowance

Just received reminder from Ryanair regarding cabin baggage allowance and notice it is now max 10k but size 55 x 40 x 20 Easyjet are still 56 x 45 x 25 with unlimited weight, measured the case I normally travel with and its 25 , is this another Ryanair sqeeze ? Some airlines in USA now charge for " carry on " luggage, how long before thats introduced ?

10 kg ! some folks handbags look like they weigh that much. Not much chance of having net book camera,necessary papers, purse and vaulables/breakable gifts in the case at that limit. I think I will be avoiding them at all costs now.

I don't think it has changed. Been those limits for my last few, infrequent trips, over the last few years. It's just that they are more frequently imposing the limits.

I agree Gerry - nothing there has changed. What I don't understand is why people complain about it. The ticket is cheap. If you add a bag in the hold it is still cheap. If you add a reserved seat and get priority boarding it is still cheap. WTF!

I think this has been discussed to the hilt, they are not cheap for a vast number of people, they are the only peole that fly to some destinations without a 2 day trip or more. This last booking my family did is not cheap by defination of cheap.

Passengers numbers at a record high and revenue up 6% for the half year; they are obviously doing something right.

Incidentally their hand baggage allowance has never changed since it was intoduced about 12 years ago. We have Ryanair cases and easyJet cases both to the exact maximum dimensions. I must admit that it is quite difficult to keep to the 10kgs with Ryanair, but not impossible.

2 adult and a 2 and half yr old.

I had a look at my last trip with them and yes the allowance was 10kg On planned trip with my husbands ashes they wanted me to put them in my hand luggage and seemed not to care about the impossibilty of that plus my small handbag and camera. Jet2com were ace

The answer is not simple ! But I am not getting into that argument again.

I have a return flight back to uk in november, for a long weekend with only hand luggage for £55. I would rather put up with ryan air and see my family a three or four times a year then pay alot more and only go once or twice.

I've taken to wearing one of those sleeveless jackets with multiple pockets you can buy at most markets.

You can stuff an amazing amount of stuff in them. Also carry a nylon holdall which weighs virtualy nothing, so when I get to the other end all the stuff in the jacket can be transfered, and I can walk unaided.

Under development is the "Rick-O-Fly" travel hat. This is a stove pipe style hat. You can get a lot into the void between the top of your head and the top of the hat. You do need a neck brace as well though.

I have considered incorporating a "Jake the Peg" type third leg, so I can put stuff inside, but I think that might be going too far.

My only regret is that Ryanair do not fly there this time of year.
