In and around Jaen for the day

Postby olive » Wed Feb 13, 2013 6:08 pm

Despite only living an hour away to the SW, I have never been to Jaen or environs (nearest I have been is Alcala la Real).

Can anyone give me suggestions of places of interest in the city and also any nearby picturesque villages and picturesque driving routes * - I don't mind lots of driving. Car parking suggestions also welcome. I definitely will include the cathedral.

* Is the route from Alcala-Castillo de Locubin over the sierra de la Pandera to Jaen for example worth the drive?

'places of interest in the city' - at least -
The view from the Santa Catalina castillo over the city - you can drive up almost all the way.
The largest Arab bath house remains in Spain.
