Norwegian Air
Norwegian Air
I'm departing from my usual airline and trying the above from Gatwick to Malaga
Has anyone flown with them
What are they like.
Is the checking in process as other airlines,ie join queue, show reservation nos and passports?Little bit concerned beecause they were massively cheaper than Monarch who we usually fly with

Haven't used them myself, but you can check out passenger reviews for this airline (or any other) via this site:-

Re: Norwegian Air
They are not a new airline, as such. I used to fly regularly from Aberdeen to Stavanger in the 70's with Braathens Safe [reassuring name, I know]
In the mid 80's they spawned a few subsidiaries and Norwegian Air was one of them. They tended to fly wholly within Scandinavia then started longer haul flights from Oslo. I flew with them to St Petersburg on a few occasions.
Then they went low cost, but though I haven't used them from Malaga I know someone who has flown to Gatwick a few times and is, so far, very pleased with their offering. At the end of the day, it's only two and a half hours so enjoy the experience.
I just wish they would fly to Edinburgh !!

Re: Norwegian Air
Thanks everyone,I'll report back later in the year(Sept)
Re: Norwegian Air
A friend of mine flew in on Xmas Eve with hem. Luckily. They went from the South Terminal Gatwick and arrived on time. Unlike all the unfortunate ones in North Terminal. My friend had no complaints.
Re: Norwegian Air
We are flying with them in 4 weeks and have several flights booked throughout the year, very good prices and cheap seat reservation. Have read reviews and they don't come out that bad. Will let everyone know in due course.
Re: Norwegian Air
Thank you all.
The prices were so much cheaper than Monarch, like almost half price with all the e xtras
Reviews will be interesting

Only one small niggle. Flying ex Malaga, you have to queue for check-in, even with hand baggage only. No online check in service.

Re: Norwegian Air
Is everyone still ok. with Norwegian Air? Have just found that they are doing a direct flight to Fort Lauderdale USA. A bonus because no other airlines fly direct there from the UK. Seems the seat pitch at 31" is about normal. Strange pricing, there is an extra package of £35 pp each way to include reserved seats, meal and one suitcase. still works out cheaper than flying in to Miami and taking a $100 taxi to Fort Lauderdale, plus more convenient.
They are using the new Dreamliner too!

Re: Norwegian Air
Don't know about the Malaga route but I've flown a number of times with Norwegianair, very satifactory.
Re: Norwegian Air
I have a flight booked from Ft Lauderdale to LGW so hopefully, fingers crossed, they will be fine. I only want a one way. BA charge $1480 one-way ($1180 for a return journey) whereas the one way flight with Norwegian Air is £210. No contest. I hate the way BA charge so much for a one way ticket, I do not understand what they gain as surely folk will look elsewhere?

Re: Norwegian Air
Didn't realise they flew to FLL. We used to go there twice a year to meet up with friends there that all drank at the same hotel. Stopped going three or four years ago when the hotel closed down. Further, it was demolished a few months ago and everyone went their separate ways. However, we may go back so it would be interesting to hear if anyone has flown to FLL with Norwegian and what the experience was like.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!
Re: Norwegian Air
I booked my flight from FLL to LGW in February this year. They only actually launched the route this month so there will not be many comments yet. My flight is in October. It is really handy for the cruise ports, and perfect for me as I am sailing on a Transatlantic crossing so only need the flight home after the cruise. BA was not worth looking at for a one way.

A competition to win 2 seats to FLL

Re: Norwegian Air
Well I bit the bullet and booked seats to FLL. £830 for two compared to BA with Miami at a cost of £1340 plus onward $85 taxi. No contest. There are some good deals to Malaga too.

Re: Norwegian Air
Why, on their web site, do they call It Ft Lauderdale/Miami? It says FLL which is Ft Lauderdale, a totally separate airport from Miami.i've been to FLL several times and never seen it referred to as Ft Lauderdale/Miami. Rather like Prestwick being called Glasgow Prestwick, all the airports round London being called London_____ etc. Even Girona called Barcelona. They'll soon be renaming Malaga as Malaga/Torre del Mar.
