current state of AP-46 and airport connection ?

Hi,

We arrive tomorrow morning and I was just wondering if there is now any direct connection between the airport & the toll road up towards Antequera ?

If not, we will stick to our tried & trusty (if somewhat winding !) route

There is no direct junction, yet, from the airport to the Northern bypass.
But it is possible to use the existing roads to get onto it. It's a little bit complicated but a look on Google maps should prepare you adequately.
The airport link is a year or so off but political pressure is building as it is thought that the lack of a dedicated airport link is a major reason for the low traffic volumes on the AP-46 and the bypass itself, and just the obvious reason.
Incidentally, the elevated direct access to the original motorway is now fully operational.

From the airport head towards Torremolinos , off at km226 pick up A-7 through tunnel and then either pick up AP-46 or carry on to A-45 as you're on way out easy way up A-45.

Correct, Enrique, I had forgotten about that little link that had been built. At junction 226 you just keep going right onto the A7 and then the AP-46.

However, for the A-45 I would still use the original motorway through town [MA-20]. But at peak times you may be right!

Well, I've just tried google maps/streetview, but they are so out of date I'm completely confused now !! We'd normally head towards Malaga and then join the A7 a bit further on.

a few minutes later:
I've just found exit 226km.....!! OK, I get it now

by the way - what are the toll rates - are we still in 'low' season?

I always use the route I posted above to and from Málaga Air Port, never had any traffic problems
