Christmas Dinner & Accommodation Packages

Postby Trackbikes » Wed Dec 10, 2014 5:39 pm

This is our first christmas without my daughter living at home so I want to book into a hotel for the 24th and 25th..

The trouble is I can't find anywhere thats offering much in the way of entertainment! I looked at several hotels here on the coast and all they seem to offer is a christmas dinner... No idea what i'd do for the other 22 hours!

Anyone got any ideas?? Or know of any good options?

Trackbikes, I'm not really sure what you want, xmas eve is traditionally low key in Spain, plus I don't really know what you would expect from a 24 hour period that would involve one evenings sleep plus travel plus unpacking time plus dining etc, perhaps you need to re-evaluate your timescale or if you have only 24 hours which you seem to indicate, then maybe you should just get a big turkey and stay home, just my thoughts !!

The Sunset beach in Benalmádena has a full package available: http://www.sunsetbeachclub.com/winter-s ... stmas-menu. Another alternative would be Gibraltar.

I'm with you manchesteral. We love Xmas at home. We go out to our local bar. Two or three orange juices, then home to prepare full Xmas lunch. My other half lays the table with all the bits and bobs. We eat about 4 pm then veg out in front on the Telly with all the usual goodies. Heaven.

We had a few Xmas lunches at restaurants and none of them were memorable. Even venues that are usually good fall by taking on too many clients. I prefer home too, or better still, someone else's home :D I can never understand why a mediocre meal of Turkey and trimmings costs about 60 to100 euro.

Great Katy, after years in the hospitality industry there is nothing that would induce me to have Xmas lunch out. Overpriced, over hyped and over. Long live home.

I do prefer Xmas in Spain, not as overhyped as the UK. We used to eat in the evening and go into Marbella centro at lunchtime for tapas and sardines. It is buzzing. The UK is crazy, gets worse every year, the sales are actually on today. One cash machine was limiting people to £50 withdrawals all paid in fivers

We always had family staying in Spain, loved it but the best Xmas was one time no one came and we ate alone, no frills, no fuss...heaven :D

I went many years ago when it was called the Torremolinos Beach Club. Despite reading that had been having had some problems, when we went all these had been addressed, and it was a great family holiday. No up-to-dare knowledge I'm afraid, but there are feedback sites like Trip Advisor that will have some opinions I woukd think.

To digress slightly  the mention of TripAdvisor reminded me - I read the other day about a couple who had given a bad review of a hotel they had stayed at, and were fined by the hotel ! Apparently it was in the hotels T & C that they could fine anyone who gave a bad review

So be warned - before you post a bad review, check the T&C of the place you stayed :D

I saw that place on TV. A Reporter checked in incognito It is a real dump. The couple have now received a refund, quite rightly.

I am sceptical of TA. I think reviewers should have to show proof of stay or give dates and room no. Booking.com seems better but we shall never know. Still find them helpful but some reviews I find it difficult to believe I have stayed at the same hotel, both negative and positive.

It was the Broadway Hotel Blackpool. A reporter booked in. Was on one of the morning news channels, probably BBC.
