I want to take friends to Seville for Easter. The accommodation is expensive. Does anybody know of a good sizes town or village we could stay in not too far away? Thanks

Carmona is about 25 minutes away, I prefer it to staying in Sevilla, good for a recce. I got the urge to revisit when I read the article.
The Alfonso trece is great but expensive now, we got a deal about 8 years ago for 110 euro.

I was there exactly a year ago and i believe a few other forum members were too, Katy's post has brought back that memory, we had the best of times and we were so lucky with the weather...My lot loved it and even the younger members of the family preferred it to Barcelona. Perhaps we shall return one day, I loved wandering around Plaza Espana looking at all the wall plaques from all the Spanish cities so interesting. Seville is certainly a must for anyone's bucket list of places to see.

I've been a couple of times, staying the night at the Ibis. Neither it nor the Ibis Budget is at all expensive but, as is often the case with the chain, only within convenient walking distance of car dealerships and light poligonos. Parking not a problem, but driving into the eye candy and parking there can be. Easter sounds good; both times I've been in August which were excoriating and we didn't venture out before 6pm. We once pulled into Osuna on the way back and a lone cafe had the only sign of life until 8pm when all the shutters came up and sentient beings emerged.

My brother's starting his 2nd Campostela walk from Sevilla in early May and I'll be glad to meet up there in more pleasant temps. Plaza Espana is very worth the visit.

1bassleft, is the Ibis very far out of the central sights? I take it no local bars, cafes etc

Nobody seems to have mentioned Las Setas - the view from the walkways on the top is nothing short of splendid ... here is the link. You have to pay your small fee at the basement kiosk and take the lift from there - at the side of the underground antiquities display and the gift shop.

Cazalla de la Sierra is a great place to stay with a train line into Seville.

Sorry to take so long. No, it's not way, way out. Like a lot of Ibis, it's at an unfashionable end (they push it as an airport hotel although it's hardly drag-your-suitcase-distance from that, either). As you can see from the map:
https://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-32 ... n-location
It's possible to walk in to the centre, but equally easy to get lost. We were pre-Google maps back then, so I preferred to drive in and use satnav (although Emily struggled at the time; I'm sure it's firmly in today's maps). Nowadays, I doubt if it's difficult to make your way to/fro on foot if you don't mind holding your 'phone out in front of you.

As for pleasant, authentic tapas etc on the doorstep; no - more of a used Kias and cafe+bocadillo, €5 ambience. Still, it's where I'll book if I decide to stay over when seeing my brother; the hotel itself is the usual Ibis decent (and the aircon in August was nice and icy).

Dos Hermanas is just a bit south of Sevilla and there are several "not bad" hotels a few blocks walk from the train station.

Just come back from two nights in carmona. Gorgeous place. Did side trips to ecija. (Very impressive) and osuna on the way back. So many many beautiful places and nothing beats the landscape of rolling fields. Only a couple of hundred pictures taken!

When I stayed in Seville, I stayed in The Hotel Sevilla Center about a 7 minute walk from the centre of the city. They had an offer meaning I paid 100 euros for 2 night stay in a decent 4 star hotel.
