Travel Insurance

Quite depressing when you read the small print of company’s like Ryanair’s own insurance ( check you are actually eligible).

Any worth taking out as they all seem to have Covid exclusion clauses.?

Not worth the paper they are written on at the moment. With the FCO advising against travel all insurance will be void.

I don't always take out travel insurance especially on my short trips to the UK or when I lived in the UK my trips to Spain
But I do take it out for the students on the Language courses and for longer trips to other places and both times I've claimed, they paid out.

Both cases were quite small amounts. One was for a specail treatment for nits for a girl with very frizzy hair, which cost 100 euros and some clothes were stolen from my lugguage on a cruise some years back.

Depending on the type of trip, maybe skiing or a trip to the USA, I would say it's very important to have some.

Emirates are now offering free Covid 19 insurance but they seem to be the only one for now, so we'll have to see if any more do so.

As far as recent trips are concerned , it made no difference not having insurance as the airlines and hotels either refunded or the one I cancelled gave me a voucher, which is more than I could expect in normal circumstances.

The hotels I booked for my upcoming holiday, I paid the suppliment to allow me to cancel up to the day of arrival , which I used because I had to change the dates. No refund though because in Spain you only pay when you check in.

Booking.com is ok. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before arrival. Most don’t even need credit card details.
Too much small print on travel insurance. Avila paid out my claim and was in my bank within 4 days a couple of years ago.
Anyone know the cost of the few insurance companies offering cover for Covid?

specialist companies that deal with war zone insurance but very expensive. Under 59s only.
