Things must be optimistic at opening up Spain. A German airline is now starting flights to Mallorca. Aslo says Spanish hotel bookings are up. Although the one they quote as already 50% booked, the Hotel Puente Romano is usually full of rich Madrilenos in July and August.

German airline Eurowings is to enter the British market citing the surge in interest for flights between the UK and Majorca following the publication of the UK Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

The carrier will fly from Manchester and Birmingham to Majorca from the end of May, initially twice a week from both airports. It might expand this offering in the coming weeks.

Any thoughts out there on when Andalucia / Spain might start accepting rapid lateral flow tests (LFTs) for inbound international travel? From today UK Goverment is offering free kits to companies registered in England whose employees cannot work from home.

Who knows Screagle? They may relax the rules once the UK can go on foreign holidays but at the moment only Spanish residents/citizens are allowed in. The closure of regional boundaries seems to be staying in place until at least 9 April. They are reviewing the situation week by week I think so you'll have to wait and see how things pan out. There is talk of a green corridor and allowing in vaccinated people but no-one knows what is happening until it happens.

You are right Wicksey, Boris Johnson will get a report from the Global Travel Taskforce on April 12th which is supposed to set out a plan for travel. No doubt the media will be publishing all kinds of propaganda leading up to that date and stirring up people one way or the other as they do.. We will just have to wait and see what happens here and what happens over in Spain.

Yes, but the Covid figures need to come down from the current plateau. They are not going to take chances on Easter week. That said, personally I don’t think the provincial borders make much difference. Keeping bars etc closed and groups to 4 is more effective.

Not so glum then compared to here in the Uk..I could do with going to the shops, hate buying clothing on line, send for it then send it back...factoring in the postage costs where there isn't a free delivery/returns policy can become costly..I'd rather see things in person than trawl through on line websites.

Hmmmm. Received this from Nerja town hall today. I thought only Brits who are resident in Spain, with residencia could enter the country but apparently property owners as well:

ENTERING SPAIN FROM BRITAIN
Due to the new covid situation in Britain, the British can only enter a Spanish airport if you have one of the following:
1) a Residence card.
2) a Padron certificate from the town hall.
3) a utility bill in your name of having a property in Spain. 4) working in Spain certificate.
5) studying in Spain.
6) a document proving you live in Spain.

Don't know how that would work, has anyone tried it? Also there is the problem of being allowed to leave the UK now with the stasi checking.

Thanks for sharing @ashtondav. Presumably a PCR negative test still required as well?

The list of acceptable documents, which have reportedly been communicated to airlines and other operators, is as follows:

Residence card issued under Article 18.4 of the Withdrawal Agreement (the TIE – Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero)

In the absence of any of the above documents, other documents that credibly evidence your legal residence in Spain before January 1, 2021, such as a padrón certificate (issued by your town hall), a work contract, a rental contract, or proof of property purchase

In the case of students, documentation that demonstrates enrolment in an on-site or in-person course and proof of accommodation

You need to complete an exit form to leave the UK at the moment as holidays are 'illegal'. Only residents are allowed into Spain up until 30 March.

Nearly everywhere is open now in Andalucía apart from a few municipalities. http://www.surinenglish.com/local/20210 ... 83234.html

Depending on what level you are then the closure time is either 6:30 or 9:30pm. Torrox has been allowed to have its shops and bars open this year but Velez wasn't for a couple of months so I wasn't able to buy clothes (not that I need anything as I still have new unworn things from last year).

I wouldn’t take too much notice of what they say, it’s often wrong. Only a couple of weeks ago they were saying that you had to get a TIE before the end of June. A week later they admitted it was wrong and there was no time limit.

France is now opening up to UK citizens, although we can't leave, like North Korea.
