Wrong travel Docs

Postby jonbar.1 » Mon Jan 04, 2021 8:14 am

Has anyone any idea why a Btitish expat returning home to Spain, was prevented from flying from Heathrow because she had only her green Residency card, not a new TIE ?
( this was a video item in Sky News,so no details)
I understood that the green Residency was still valid.

Just an idea...maybe it's because she thinks of herself as an expat rather than a permanent immigrant resident . A BBC article defined the differential as follows

“Immigrants are usually defined as people who have come to a different country in order to live there permanently, whereas expats move abroad for a limited amount of time or have not yet decided upon the length of their stay,”

Maybe she should show some commitment and go the full hog and apply for a Spanish passport?

I jest of course .......but the comment does bring up the age old question is why British are expats and Romanians are immigrants and Sengalese are illegal Immigrants. I wonder how many British are illegal now is Spain. Will they become 'illegal expats'?

In the small print it says those without the correct documents will be given 7 days grace so not long.
